The comrades have discussed this long and hard and have asked the Heavenly Council to implement autocorrect systems to correct these mistakes. A 7 day review period will be run during which petitions regarding this policy will be considered.

Yes, well, people do come up with all sorts of strange names for sports, don't they. I have put in a corrective measure that should help people remember what they are actually talking about, particularly when the subject is sports where one carries a leathery melon in one's hands.

The problem is that now, with the authoritarian hypercorrection of "foot-ball" to "handmelon", it's impossible to refer clearly to the sports known in the US, Canada, or Australia as foot-ball.

Also the fact that it's, y'know, censorship.

Fun facts:

"Football" or "foot ball" has been around for centuries in numerous variations.
"Soccer" is Oxford University slang for "Association Football", derived from "Association", similar to calling Rugby Football "rugger" and Football "footer".
When the football rules were first codified by the Football Association the term "Association Football" was created to distinguish it from the other types of football, especially Rugby Football.
"American Football" started out as a variant of Rugby Football when McGill and Harvard Universities played a match with a running code called the "Boston Game", which then led to Harvard adopting most of the Rugby Football Union rules and eventually persuading the rest of the universities in the U.S.A. to follow suit.

So consequently "Soccer"="Association Football"="Football" for everyone who plays it as their main version of football, and
"American Football"="Football" for everyone who plays it as their main version of football, and
"Canadian Football"="Football" for everyone who plays it as their main version of football.

The Administrative Soviet should urgently acquire some administrative Glasnost and cease its ridiculous, pointless and absurd censorship, which is clearly born of desperation and ignorance, before submitting itself to the nearest re-educational gulag for an indefinite period.
