We haven't updated this in a while, so I apologize for the swirl of old and new updates that will be included!

Cultural
- One of my favorite threads in Alexandria is getting some love, providing visitors with snapshots of life in different parts of the Alexandrian Empire.
- The Imperial University of Alexandria has been hosting the Alexandrian Trivia Contest, to further enrich and inform the people of Alexandria about their history and their Empire.

Imperial Assembly
- Imperial Assembly passes the Imperial Elections [Amendment] Act, proposed by Deputy JUANA BEAZCOETXEA HERNÁNDEZ of San Martin. It passed with 3 votes, with 2 votes against. The UMD had come out hard against the Bill, but a defection from its party by Deputy VAI ANSIN of Baudrix got it through the finish line. It was recently signed by the Emperor, and the Imperial Government is beginning its implementation for the next election.
- His Imperial Highness Prince Harald has been named as Speaker Pro-Tempore of the Imperial Assembly, given the musings of some of the Alexandrian Deputies frustrated with the inactivity and standstill of the Imperial Assembly. Many in Alexandria do seem to agree with those Deputies who are frustrated with the Imperial Assembly.
- Debate on a motion regarding Alexandrian federalism put forth by the UMD by Deputy FRANCISCO BAEZ has brought the issue of Alexandrian federalism to the forefront, but due to the inactivity of the Imperial Assembly, the debate has come to a standstill.
- The Alexandrian [May] Constitution of 2014 was amended to remove the requirement of oaths and affirmations to become part of the Imperial Assembly. It has yet to be dispatched to the Emperor for Imperial Assent.

The Courts and Judicial Matters
- The Alexandrian High Court of Justice recently ruled on the Administrator and Moderator Bill, given that it had been passed by an earlier session of the Alexandrian legislature and did not receive Imperial Assent. Clarification was needed to see if the Bill had indeed been considered as passed.

Politics
- The Union for the Democratic Movement (or known by its French acronym, the UMD) has announced its Frontbench.
- Deputy Juana Beazcoetxea becomes the leader of the Liberal Aliance (or known by its French acronym, the AL), she was unopposed. She is the first female leader of that party in its history, and the first female leader of any political movement other than the UMD (earlier incarnations of the UMD are the MoDems and the Conservative Party of Alexandria).

Politics
- First Consul Primo de Aguilar has unexpectedly resigned as First Consul, and has requested the Emperor for new Imperial Assembly elections. It is expected that the petition will be granted and new elections will occur.

Politics
- Petition from First Consul is granted by the Emperor, there will be elections for the Imperial Assembly in January 2015. The Assembly dissolves today at 11:59 pm.
- Lord Ivo Angus of Annivia is appointed as Chief of the recently created Imperial Civil Service.

Culture
- New Year 2015 Honors give props to Natopians - Christophos Eucalyptos, Minister of State of Natopia, is now Grand Officer of the Legion of Honor; Lord Erion, Chancellor of Natopia, is now Officer of the Legion of Honor.

Your Majesty,

I am humbled and surprised by such a great honor! It has been a distinct pleasure working with you this past year to restore our states' relations to its former cozy status. Soon Alexandria and Natopia will be united together in common purpose, metaphorical bridges will give way to physical bridges across the Egale River and we'll be linked by road and rail! It will be an exciting time for both Natopians and Alexandrians!

Yours eternally,

An update is long overdue!
Politics and Elections
- After a spirited campaign by the three major Alexandrian parties (Union for the Democratic Movement - UMD, the Liberal Alliance - AL and the Socialist Party - PS), Alexandrians went to the polls, giving the UMD an expanded plurality in the Imperial Assembly. The Liberal Alliance made strong gains, while the Socialist Party barely gained any seats but still managed to hold its own despite a lackluster campaign. The election was conducted without any problems, despite threats of violence by a small extremist group based in Galatia, the Path of Light.
- Parties currently in talks regarding coalition negotiations. Internal sources say that talks between the UMD and the LA are being conducted behind closed doors, and may lead to a majority coalition government. The deadline for a deal to form a Government is Tuesday May 5th.

Culture
- The Archbishop of Geneva, Louis Lafayette, has released an expose on the Afroalexandrians.
- Edgard's Cultural Blog.
- A discussion of the Alexandrian political spectrum started by the First Consul in the Imperial University of Alexandria.

Imperial Assembly
- Preparations underway for the State Opening of the Imperial Assembly on July 6th.

National Holidays
- On a day like today in 2002, an awkward high schooler in Grand Rapids, MI founded the Kingdom of the Union of Madland from his parent's basement. 13 years later, you now have the Empire of the Alexandrians. Over in Alexandria we are celebrating our 13th birthday today - any and all Natopians are welcome to join us for celebrations.
- Foundation Day Parade in downtown Geneva.
- His Imperial Majesty has issued this year's Foundation Day Honors and Birthday Honors combined (elections were happening during the Emperor's birthday, and opted to wait until after elections). In these honors, the Emperor of the Natopians and the Chancellor of Natopia have both been honored. Congrats!

Politics and Government
- The Union for the Democratic Movement and the Liberal Alliance have reached a landmark coalition agreement to form the next Government in Alexandria. First Consul Sebastian Goddestreu will remain as First Consul and President of the Government, with Ms. Juana Beazcoetxea as Vice-President of the Government and the Foreign Affairs/Defense portfolios.
- The Imperial Assembly has opened for its fourth session under the Alexandrian [May] Constitution of 2014.
