To His Serene Highness, Janus, Prince of the Most Serene Union of Thalassa, Neridia, Istvanistan, and St. Andre, Greetings.

Arboria has long watched and admired the diligent struggle of the Most Serene Union, most particularly the enduring struggle of the Neridians to overcome the truculent Free City of Etampes, the Free City of Bastion, and the Barbarian Kingdom of Pontmistry. In the years that have passed since the establishment of the Most Serene Union, we have both faced and endured far greater threats than were ever posed by those minor statelets, indeed, in the late unpleasantness we endured the full might and fury of the most formidable army the world has yet seen; a mechanised horde repulsed only by our combined efforts and with the assistance and material support of our protecting Empire and our allies.

It is important to note this because, in spite of the return to a relative peace, the issues which underpinned the recent war and fed its ferocity remain unresolved. We are left to secure our borders and to rebuild in the knowledge that all we achieve may yet prove to be temporary, swept away by the next deluge of ballistic missiles and armoured columns sweeping over the land.

Arboria and the Most Serene Union's demesne of Saint Andre both share a land border with the Jing tyrant, now nestled in the coiled serpentine embrace of an alliance with the Pallisicans which furthers the global reach of their inhuman horror.

For this reason Arboria observes that it is of the utmost importance for our two unions, working within the framework of the Bovic Empire, and indeed the invaluable alliance between Natopia, Shireroth and Constancia, to work together more closely and to further economic, industrial, security and defence cooperation so that, should the events of recent years recurr, the Apollonian possessions of the Bovic Empire will be better prepared to meet, endure, and overcome, whatever challenges might arise.

Arboria ardently hopes that the Most Serene Union shares its overall perspective on these matters of mutual interest.

Your Most Esteemed Imperial Highness,

Your letter is received with much happiness and support from the Most Serene Union and Our Government. The horrors of the war left a deep scar in the society of the Most Serene Union, the nadir of this conflict being the demonstrated use of chemical agents in St. Andre by elements of the Stripping Path and the abduction and murder of Natopians in Poblenou.

While we continue to make strides in building a better peace, there is an old Neridia saying that comes to mind: "to be strong of body and mind, you prepare".

The Most Serene Union remains committed, as an integral part of the great Bovic Empire of the Natopian Nation, to doing everything within its powers and prerogatives to prepare for any eventuality and ensure that in both peace and war, the Natopian Nation can count on a strong Union to help defend Natopia.

As such, we are committed to working with our Arborian brothers and sisters in enhancing, strengthening and improving the defense of our respective demesnes and the rest of the country.
