Re: Election
If you noticed at the MCS, it was noted that further expansions for Stormark would likely be denied given the large number of recent expansions they've already made. We, on the other hand, have only made two tiny claims.

They didn't seem too impressed when I used that argument. However, I will convey your wishes, of course a claim of all isles would be my preferred outcome as well.

Can you back up that MCS story? The Storish representative claims it's false.
This is what Stormark is currently agreeing upon:

Re: Election
It occurs to me that one solution we could call upon, for now, is what Ashkenatza did. We could have the Lord Protector be the presiding officer of Parliament, as well as the head of state, until the body reaches a certain size; at that point, Parliament would be responsible for electing its own Speaker. The Lord Protector could focus on appointing a Secretary of State to be the one-man cabinet (which was the catch-all minister under many an English monarch before it became every government minister), as well as the Lord Chancellor to handle justice and courts (as Ashkenatza did with the Beth Din). Again, it would all be temporary here, but it seemed to work there.

That was pretty much my proposal. Seems like the right way to do this.

A unified Head of State & Government and Presiding Officer of the Assembly (Speaker) worked well in Antica.Richard Amherst wrote:It occurs to me that one solution we could call upon, for now, is what Ashkenatza did. Re: Election
Read Craitman's response here. Why is Stormark getting any of it? Can you explain their involvement?Jack wrote:Can you back up that MCS story? The Storish representative claims it's false.
If we have to give up those two islands then I say we have a right to claim an equal amount of territory on the mainland, maybe as some eastern defensive outposts.

Re: Election
Harald is Dutch and because of that, Stormark has always had a connection with the Dutch sector. They are currently involved in the end project as well. Claiming a part on the Batavian mainland is easy, I'm sure that can be managed. I'll contact the Storish again with Craitman's remarks, that seem quite suggestive.

Re: Election
We'll have to wait for Batavia to fall, and for the final removal claim to be made until we can actually claim the isles, but we could already issue this one:
The part in S.E. Keltia will be our 'exotic' part now, I claimed the entire island of Calbion, and the isles next to Port Impregnable. The only thing I am not really sure of is what should be the name of the claim in former Chi'nam and Canton.

Re: Election
I'd suggest calling it "Hong'Dao", meaning "Red Island" in Chinese. We could also simply keep on calling it Chi'Nam.

Re: Election
Yeah, the island would be Chi'Nam. But what would the entire province be? Given that we'll also incorporate other cultures there.

Re: Election
Perhaps we name the island Hong Dao, the land bit Sinhaya (cross between Singapore and Malaysia), and the whole thing Brettish Chi'Nam?

Re: Election
Chi'Nam was the old name for the island, might be good to keep that for continuity. Tengarstan perhaps? Which derives from the Malaysian word for 'South East', and the Persian for 'land'. That way it incorporates diverse sides of Asian realms of our commonwealth.

Re: Election
Hmm. I looked at the MicrasWiki page for Chi'Nam, and two names which popped out were T'aishen and Taesong. T'aishen sounds a bit like Taiwan (a Chinese island-nation), and Taesong has the feel of Korea/Manchuria (a large mass with a peninsula). And Chi'Nam sounds like a full nation, i.e., Chinamese.

Re: Election
Wasn't that the micronation? I was talking about the former part of the Britannic Empire. They changed the name often, it has also been known as New South Vietnam and Moi Mien Nam (The island, that is).
Regardless, I think a more neutral name would be best, which would allow us to incorporate more cultures than just East Asian. For instance also India and Nepal.

Re: Election
Quite, quite. I guess my idea would be to have broad colonies, but generally in the same cultural category. So, having a "Chi'nam" would cover East and Southeast Asia. We could later develop a colony on, say, Eura, which has a broad Middle Eastern theme (i.e. Arab, Persian, Jewish, maybe Indian), then a colony which covers Africa (South and Central). As it stands, we have the British Isles, a sort of Celtic colony (Ireland, Scotland, Wales), and I assume the Nova England portion will likely end up being Anglo-Commonwealth (i.e. Australia, Canada, America, etc.). So, multi-ethnic colonies, but in having a little more character than a neutral thing. But, just an idea.

Re: Election
Well, colonies need development, and I wonder if we have the manpower to develop so many colonies. That's why I thought that we'd put all 'exotic' colonies together in one, which we may then later expand upon if the time is there. If you look at the old maps of the Britannic Empire, you see that there used to be quite a large presence in south-eastern Keltia.

Re: Election
Chi'Nam, Taesong, Taishen, and several others constantly flip-flopped between being actual micronations to colonies.
If we want some sort of continuity, Chi'Nam (meaning South Chi) was one of the last Asian-themed micronations after a long series of Asian-themed micronations had been tried and died (Chine, Kampong, Dipingxian, Xinguo, etc). When it was part of New Brittania, the island was called New South Vietnam, and the mainland was New Canton. See map 12 for reference. For all it matters we can retain those names and simply call the overarching political entity the Brettish Orient.
