New Coat of Arms for the Union

The Union Arms features a shield of nine quarterings, eight of which represent the various territories of the Union while the ninth is a so-called "regalian quarter", denoting sovreign prerogatives. Surmounting the main shield is a smaller shield, or inescutcheon, bearing the traditional three bars couped of Sangun; the larger shield is also encircled by a representation of the collar of the Order of the Golden Skull, one of the Union's three premier orders of chivalry. The shields are depicted upon the breast of a double-headed "imperial" eagle, whose colours recall those of the single-headed Treisenberg eagle. The eagle carries the traditional attributes of sovereignty in its claws- a sword, sceptre and orb- and each head is crowned by a royal crown. Floating above the eagle is the distinctive Crown of Leichenberg, here representing the necrarchs' imperial authority.

Thanks, although I should stress that this is a) still a work in progress (I'm not completely happy with everything yet) and b) was built on the work of other, more talented people. The eagle, for instance, is from the vector drawing of the Austrian Imperial Arms on Wikipedia, suitably recoloured by me; the largest crown is adapted from the Imperial German crown (again, the original image is from Wikimedia Commons). The shield, minus some of the more complicated charges (also adapted from Wiki images), is my own work though, as are the designs of the individual coats of arms.

I should compile a list of all the contributors to comply with the open source license, but in the meantime, this is me acknowledging their amazing and inspirational efforts!

It's not too hard to achieve similar results, thanks to the incredible material available on Wikimedia Commons. All you need is a vector editor, some time and a dollop of inspiration.

For the record, the double-headed eagle was by an individual credited as Sodacan and is available on an attribution-share alike license, which means you can copy and adapt the image provided you credit the author and release it on similar terms.

I think I may have designed (or at least updated) Treisenberg's arms to include the white unicorn on a purple background, but I really don't remember

If you mean the horse, then that's highly likely given that it's the coat of arms of Rossheim. Didn't your new coat of arms feature symbols for Rossheim, Rhaetia and Wahlstadt?

Hmm...I can't seem to find your coat of arms. I don't suppose you still have a copy somewhere?

Oops, I was wrong. It was the Treisenberger cross that I added (still not 100% sure) when Galinn Karisson became king of the Storish autonomous country. He was at the same time pope of the Storish church, so I put the Treisenberger cross in (I think). Before that Treisenberg, under Stormark, was pretty much a Menelmacar wannabe fan-nation for sometime, and before that the independent principality that you remember fondly. I don't remember that principality's coat of arms though.

As for my coat of arms, I assume you mean Wahlstadt's. I am no longer the sovereign of it. Sisera had assumed the throne of Wahlstadt before Elijah died, then she sold it to the government of Haifa under whose sovereignty it still is. I'm working on at least regaining the title, but we'll see...

Fond as I am of the Stormarkers, I didn't recognise the place Treisenberg became under their stewardship: it really had very little to do with the independent principality/empire/united principalities.

The Principality used the coat of arms of the Princes of Fuerstenberg. If there's one thing I hate, it's micronations that copy wholesale the arms of macronational families or entities: not only is this unforgivably lazy, but in some jurisdictions (notably France) you can actually be sued for assuming the heraldry of a noble family to which you are not entitled. However unlikely that may be, it's still bad form and really bothers me because I can almost always recognise the family or state from which such arms have been "borrowed".

As it happens, the Fuerstenbergs use a modified version of the original arms of the Zähringer family (who later founded the Grand Duchy of Baden): a red eagle on gold. Given that the red eagle used to be the symbol of Treisenberg, I have adopted Or an Eagle displayed Gules armed beaked and langued Azure as the Grand Principality's arms, on the grounds that the design is sufficiently simple to avoid allegations of obvious plagiarism.

I agree! I was a citizen of Storish Treisenberg for maybe two months or so... The fun thing with micronationalism is creating, not copying... Sadly not everyone agrees with us.

I do like the Waltstadt flag...it has a certain je ne sais quois. Although I've just noting something rather troubling about it: that's a dolphin, not a whale!!!
