The Rasdi: Religion

Post by ConglacioII »

Rasdi is short for Ras-Digasrianism. It is named after Ras Diga, an ancient ruler of Attera.
The Rasdi see Ras Diga as a godlike figure, and see Daffit Bergsdrumfort as a messiah who will one day return as Earl of Negril to lead the people.
(ooc: Rasdigarinism is a Micran equivalent to Rastafarianism. Where as in real life, Rastafarianism started in Jamaica, an Anglican/protestant land, Rasdi started in Negril, an Orthodox country.
And where Rastas follow the image of an Ethiopian ruler, the nearest equivalent to that on Micras would have been Ras Diga. )

Principles
There are two main principles in Rasdi life: Rejection of Slavery & Defence of the community.
Defence of the community is manifested in the way that all Rasdi train for war, and form mercenary units (both to generate funds for their settlements and to gain military experience) as well as always being welcoming to visiting Rasdi.

An example of the way these principles work is their opinion of drugs.
Recreational use of drugs is permitted, however:
-Addiction to drugs is slavery
-Causing another person to become addicted to drugs is to enslave them
-Any bodily harm from drug use weakens your ability to defend the community
-One who is enslaved to drugs either spends vast amounts of money on them, reducing the resources available to the community (thus denying its defence) or becomes involved in crime to fund a drug habit, thus attacking the community.

A philosophical question, but isn't the law of rejection of slavery not a form of slavery itself? :8
1.Titus Morvayne, Prefect of Shirekeep, Count of the Skyla Islands
2.Eki Aholibamah Verion, Queen in the North
3. Ludovic Verion, Lord of Blackstone and Governor-General of the Iron Company
4. Jeremy Harwinsson Archer, super sleuth

I'm going to try and explain it in story, but basicly, there is no law of rejection of slavery. Rasdi have the concept of the we-self. I am we, you are We, we are we! That is, we are all one. To be good to another person is to be good to god, to mankind and to yourself. Likewise, to enslave another person is to enlave a manifestation of yourself, and of god.

Of course as they think that god is the fullest manifestation of the full unity of man, and the Rasdi are the most closest to our collective heart, it is to fellow Rasdi that they are most good to. Hence why they don't see it as a bad thing to hire themselves out as mercenaries to kill other people. Non Rasdi are like a finger that you cut off if infected. You'd rather not do that, but atleast you're not cutting off someting vital.
