They Must be Mad

Post by Ryker »

It seemed like eons since the Ryker walked through the streets of the land he somehow still ruled. At first he just didn't like the cats; more than ten at his feet at any given time is decidedly too many. But then, as the state of the political landscape jumped from a maddeningly slow decline to all out war against the rest of the country, he simply gave up hope for any return to the days of gibbering poets, drunk leopard tamers, and lawbooks that rhymed. But as the King walked through Mesior he was surprised to see traces of the land he was once so fascinated by. He passed a travel agency that gave out free cats, a dock with signs reading "NO DOGS" "NO RED-HEADS" and "RED DOGS WILL BE SHOT ON SIGHT" and a eerie lack of red dogs, there were PSA posters reminding everyone to take stimulants before the full moon, and the castle bridge was absolutely silent despite the heavy foot traffic.

The King smiled and whispered, "They must be going mad."
