Do we need the monarchical form of government anymore? I mean on the highest level. Everyone can run their own provinces (hereditary) and in theory, we can elect a Consul. Vive la Republic? Or should we maintain our most holy and ancient autocracy. By the way, the millet system is definitely going to be abolished and replaced with solely territorial administrative units, since our ethnicity are concentrated anyhow.

*The Princess nods.*

Thank you, Grandsire, these matters are indeed worth discussing. We stand on the eve of a new era. With independence and, after that, joining a confederation with our Apollonian brethren, it's a good question if the monarchy still has a place. While I know that technically the Confederation would not forbid our monarchy, we could easily doubt if it still has any use. As you may know, our current army and parts of our population are already enthusiast about the possibility of overthrowing the throne in favour of establishing a military republic à la the Apollonian Republic and most of them are simply waiting till the Shirerithian forces have left. We could ask our friends for help, but I doubt that the Caudillo would make himself and a confederation popular when he marches into our capital and starts slaughtering the population.

It's already with grievance that I support abolishing the millet system, but it's with even more grievance that I tell you: let's end this. Let the nobility and richest among us elect a Consul.

What do you think, Lord Mahesh?

Guillotine some nobles. Force everyone to eat from the hands of untouchables. We must make good Apollonians!

I also abolish my own title, the Grandsire, and am an ordinary citizen of Aryasht. Aryasht is a military republic dedicated to order, efficiency, and meritocracy.

Shall I write a little story about how the masses - with support of some soldiers of the army - attack the palace and the royal guards, in an attempt to protect the lives of the nobles (and themselves), declare that the monarchy has come to an end?

Sure. The irony is that the monarchy was fairly popular but the aristocracy was not.

Why does it need to be a violent change? Hasn't the Lama of Rulak taught you anything?! ;)

By the way, none would die in my little storyline, so it's a rather peaceful 'revolution'.

I find that the passions of men often lead to violence in such situations.

Luckily, the people of Aryasht will see the decision of the Grandsire as a wise one and follow the new junta! :madviking:

The revolution might take place among only the political classes. The social and religious classes would be left untouched.

So long as you keep your violent tendencies out of the Dyre Island you may proceed with my blessings. Our protests will be non-violent and accomplish the same results.

Indeed. As a secular act in Aryasht, protesters have slaughtered hundreds of cows in public.

They were probably supports of the goats... trying to break the cows' monopoly on milk production...
