A few months in Leng

Post by Soreaa Isurui »

Soreaa Isurui had travelled to Leng. Her second son, Matias, a meteorologist, had lived there for the past ten years. They hadn't seen much of each other for a long time but now it was time for Soreaa to spend time with her son.

Having been there for a few weeks, she spoke with a few of the locals and she had this inspiration for her next novel. It would be a story set here among the mountains of Leng during the times of anomie. Oh it was great!

She would stay here from some time now, her son was really happy and confided in her that his wife, Elsa, was four weeks pregnant. Now Soreaa really had to stay. She would be there when her new grandchild would be born. She hadn't experienced that before.

"There are bi-weekly flights from Zi'yeh Kla to Eliria" Matias smiled big when he said so. "You wouldn't miss anything back in Eliria, the literary circles, museums and galleries and plays..."

"Oh darling, of course. I'll stay here a while."

And after a few weeks, it seemed that the Shadow Council, ironically, had become a shadow itself. Nothing had been heard.

The people of Zi'yeh Kla, not so used to political discussions (but at least more than those from the "countryside") began nonetheless to meet in cafés and libraries, any place where some warmth and space allowed for discussion among many.

Soon, the rest of the small island population joined in. Through electronic discussion, people began worrying about the future, especially with the government in Anun acting strange, the Shadow Council disappeared, and the news from Elwynn Proper. What would happen? Who'd guard their interests?

---

One day, Soreaa was in the city library of Zi'yeh Kla, speaking about the importance of literary education for children. It was a standard speech she had said many times (varied slightly each time of course) but somehow it touched people. She was a good speaker.

The next day she hears she's nominated to sit in the Citizen's Convention of Leng, as a spokeswoman and presiding member. They would even suggest that she'd represent them in Amokolia's federal assembly.

"Interesting times" Matias commented.

"Very interesting" Soreaa replied. "I might be a politician, oh god... at this age?"

"Mother, you'll be fine. I'd vote for you. Any day."
