Svralus Through Time

Millenia ago, Micrasian humanoids first visited the area that is now the city of Svralus in Leng, Amokolia. We know this from artifacts of ancient peoples frozen in the ice. The area is dark and forbidding for most of the year. There are only two purposes that have been deduced so far for why ancient people would build a camp here: as a midway resting point to and from fishing and hunting areas off of the coast, or as a place to gaze at the stars from the polar perspective for some religious significance. Archaeologists have determined that while the early people did have a camp there, it was not a village, and was only temporary due to the early people's nomadic nature. At some point, this area was forgotten, only to be rediscovered by Shirerithian Elwynnese explorer by the name of Ablonianah Svarlusany many years ago.

A small village was built on the location more recently, but not by much, right on the ice. There was no ground under the ice, just more ice and water deep below the ice. This Shirerithian Empire used the village at various times at as a place for a monastic order, a prison camp, and a waypoint to trading and fishing villages and towns along the coast. Currently the village houses scientific research facilities and, owing to its central location that is easily reachable by plan or helicopter, a small hospital, the only hospital for thousands of miles. Svralus is very near to the North Pole so it also receives tourists from time to time as well. There is a small airstrip, an inn, a restaurant, a pub.

FYI: In the Lengicon, Svralus was ordered evacuated. This would be 1427 years ago ASC. Several other sites also underwent name changes. The objective at the time was to keep the plateau uninhabited and have everyone living in Zi'yeh Kla; an island in the bay that's more amenable to habitation.
