Post by Thadeus Laing »

INTRODUCTION

The Capitalists' Society hereby announces a sub-organization
known as the Cost Realism Innovation Council (CRIC). CRIC
will be responsible for developing a standardized list of prices
that will be used by those participating in the economy to
achieve a better level of realism.

STANDARDIZED COST LIST PROJECT
PHASE 1
a. Inputting core items (starting with defense items) to the Excel Spreadsheet
b. Assigning basic prices according to the x^0.35 formula and
based on current USD amounts

PHASE 2
a. Inputting additional items
b. Developing and applying deflation, inflation patterns to the Excel
spreadsheet

PHASE 3
a. Tidying up the Excel Spreadsheet
b. Developing any additional formulas to be added to the Excel Spreadsheet

At the end of PHASE 3, DRAFT status will be changed to Version 1.0 status.
The Council will then dissolve as its work will be complete. Technical
maintenance will be handled by the Capitalists' Society. Revisions other
than ones technical in nature will require the organization of a new Council.

DECISION MAKING OF THE COUNCIL

Decision making will be by majority vote of the council or by
decision of the Council General Secretary. However, the Council
General Secretary can be vetoed by a majority of the Council
except when a majority of the Council has been inactive (defined
as not making a motion or voting) for a period of one month.

Signed,

Giles Melang

are you going to let the raw material prizes fluctuate?

Also, in order for the raw materials to work, we would have to enforce that map nathan once made.

Fluctuating prices should be implemented in phase 3.

I have no problem basing the prices on third-party maps.
The prices of defense items are, for instance, derived from Lord Montague's ANUNIA+ points.

If you want this project to be the basis of realistic economic model, then I would strongly advise taking another look at the cost of military equipment. Anunia points were intended to be a measure of combat strength rather than financial outlay (and even then, some of the costings are rather arbitrary), so I really don't think they serve your purpose particularly well. Why not look at the contemporary cost of some average items, convert them into SCUE units and then apply the 25% modifier? That would surely produce a more realistic pricing structure.

The used prices for raw materials are not to be used. They are a side effect
of the spreadsheet's programming, since the column is populated
with conversion formulas. They will be removed from the final draft.

Von Rossheim, arms are based on a realistic base price, the $2.9 billion dollar
cost of India's first nuclear submarine, the 6000 dwt Arihant SSBN, with a single
85 MW PWR fuelled by HEU driving a 70 MW steam turbine, which it purchased
in 2009 ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/INS_Arihant ). What we have done is
essentially apply 1000 ANUNIA+ points to 6000 dwt Arihant SSBN- class submarine,
basically saying that the importance and contribution to overall rec-war score) of
that submarine is equal to the other items with 1000 ANUNIA+ points, such as, say,
a bomber or frigate. The prices for other items are then extrapolated to all the other
defense items, using ANUNIA+ points for the ratios. Why base the prices on ANUNIA+
points? ANUNIA+ is a standard convention that most veteran micronationalists are
familiar with and we would rather not reinvent the wheel, now would we?
