Glorious! Hurray, further expungement references to this 'earth' heresy.

I've actually had a thought about those hills. For me, the silhouette makes them seem uncertain and far away - they remind me of a sailor's lot; seeing land from far away, against the blue background of sky and sea. It could represent the land where we come from - be it the mother isle of Yardistan herself, or Novi Dalmacija, and ancient Nigrad, long-awaited port to visit friends, family and exchange our cargo for gold - or it could represent the land we arrive at, unknown, perhaps unknowable, but damned if we won't give it a punt. Because we're driven to adventure by the blank spaces on the maps, and by the dark hue of those far-off clods of dirt that seem so mysterious.
And I like that the hills are over Micras and sun. Micras represents the power and wealth the earth can offer us; the sun, the Apollonian history of our people, and celestial power, both linked to immortality; yet the over-riding rule or truism dictated by uncertain hills is that everything changes and nothing stays the same. For people on an island like Yardistan, and especially those with a maritime and volatile culture akin to that of Yardistan, we must never cease travelling. Until, perhaps, the winnowing fan of our far-off coastal shadow astride this coat of arms is mistaken for the backgarden of a suburban human settlement...
