[Data File] Ayreon Tomb Guard Uniforms

Post by Amund Einhornsson »

The Ayreon Tomb Guard is the elite unit assembled by Grand Marshal Amund Einhornsson for the sole purpose of guarding the tomb of The Supreme Savior of Mankind from defilement. Their uniform is the same, basic design as all other Norse military uniforms, with the standard differentiation in color - here black is the primary color with dark blue collar and piping with gold buttons. The uniform is also the only uniform to display a shoulder cord - to further differentiate themselves from any other military unit. Also unique to this uniform is the lack of the Tree of Einhorn insignia, instead opting for the Elwynnese orchid, reflecting Ayreon's nationality and is used on the belt buckle and cap badge.

This uniform is the only uniform of the Tomb Guard, unless they are recalled to a combat unit to serve if deployed. Otherwise, all guard units are required to wear this uniform at all times while on duty or on liberty. It is not, however, required to be worn while on authorized leave. Due to the outdoor nature of the tomb and the requirement that this be the sole uniform they wear, Tomb Guards are given duplicate uniforms to ensure they always have a clean uniform to wear.

Unlike many other uniforms of the Norse military, the display of decorations and awards on this uniform is forbidden, as it is believed that the personal glory associated with such awards detract from the highest glory afforded to them and The Supreme Savior. As such, they do not display any such decorations or devices on their guard uniform, but are given a Guard Service medal upon the end of their tour as a Tomb Guard, to be displayed on their standard Class 1 uniform.

Guardsmen and senior guardsmen (i.e. Color Sergeants, Captains of the Guard) are differentiated by their head dress, with Guardsmen normally wearing a steel helmet while senior guardsmen wear the crush cap. The greatcoat is utilized in inclement weather including rain, snow and temperatures below 32 degrees F/0 degrees C, as the primary uniform is heavy wool for autumn and winter use and lighter synthetic during spring and summer.
