The Micrasian Convention on Person Rights

Post by Markus Doltrue »

I have been concerned that there are agreements on everything on Micras but not person rights. I call them "person rights" because, after all, humans are not the only sentient species on Micras. I propose the following treaty:
The Micrasian Convention on Person Rights

Within the borders of the Signatory:
1. Everyone has the right to liberty, life, and security of person.
2. No one shall be held in slavery.
3. No one shall be subjected to cruel and unusual punishment.
4. All persons have the right to recognition everywhere as a person before the law.
5. All are equal before the law.
6. All are entitled to a fair and just trial.
7. All have a right to privacy.
8. All have a right to freedom of movement.
9. Everyone has a right to leave the Signatory and return to the Signatory.
10. Everyone has a right to freedom of speech.

Representatives of the Signatories:
Signed x_____________________________
Signed x_____________________________
Signed x_____________________________
Signed x_____________________________
Signed x_____________________________
Signed x_____________________________
and so on
Moreover while not designed as such, this could be incorporated into the MTO collection if the MTO is interested in that.

Without any set consequences for not adhering to this once signed and with nothing but just another stamp of humanitarian approval to gain from it, what's the point of signing at all? It all seems a bit lazy and silly in its current state. This isn't to say it's a bad idea, it might well be a pretty good one, but you certainly aren't putting in the effort required to make it look like something worthwhile to the community. I recommend asking around, either publicly or privately, what might be added or subtracted to make this more appealing to more members of the sector. Alternatively, you might try proposing this to newer and less developed micronations to give them the beginnings of an international platform.

Thank you, Ryker, for your comments. Posting this is just the start. Getting this approved everywhere, smaller places, and bigger places, including Shireroth, is my ultimate goal. There is much that must happen in between, so I know that it is not an easy task.

As for Rasmus, I would agree that no reductions should be made. However, I am open to additions, that is, additional rights for Micraskind beyond those listed.
