As Nate commented first, the procedures are limited - the system isn't bad, but it hasn't been tested very often (ever?) for the sorts of things we want it to do. Maybe Shireroth should back the International Commission, it might be useful for this as not everything is debated on an assembly floor.

Might as well see what the Commission has to say, as long as it's clear to everyone that this is a commission about why Elwynn's actions were wrong and how we're going to punish them, instead of just mediating the Simon extradition issue and then calling it a day.

Shireroth hasn't ratified the Commission treaty - perhaps the Common Court?

Ratify and proceed on that basis?

Perhaps have the MTO issue an opinion as well? We can probably get the majority of other nations in support.

How shall we all react to Elwynn screwing its own democracy over? Official response? Help Jacobus out?

I have set up a secret forum for Jacobus' supporters and we are going to discuss that. My preferred reaction would be a rebellion much like the one that created independent Elwynn in the first place, but that will depend on the opinions of the other conspirators.

I think it would be very bad publicity to let Balarak in, but I will report to him anything he wants to know. I've let the Kaiseress in as a "friendly foreign observer".

No problem.

I'd like to go on record, having said the sme to Jake already, that I wouldn't like to see 3 Elwynns. 2 are headache enough but 3?

The idiotic thing for the clique is that under Jake I would have considered reunification.

I'd kinda like three Elwynns. There could be a Romance of the Three Elwynns.

Reunification how? :aargh:

See what option would come to the table but at the very least a concordat opening the border and creating joint sovereignty over Elwynn (ducal and free).

Officially, The Shirerithian Imperial Government does not interfere in the domestic affairs of foreign nations, particulary those with which we have treaties. Unofficially...I tend to agree with Monty: the best opportunity for a rational solution to the "Elwynn Question" has been squandered by the usual suspects, who will no doubt find a way to blame us for it.

I'm going to nail my colours to the mast, albeit in a careful and considered manner considering that this conversation will inevitably be leaked to the outside world at some point in the future: although I like Ric, Ardy and Nic on an individual basis (hell, I'd be something of a militarist too if left to my own devices), I have lost patience with their collective antics. Ardy has declared on countless occasions that the sector is doomed; well if he wants to screw around while merily circling the plughole then that's his business, but he has no right to ruin things for those of us who still believe that his hobby has a constructive part to play in our lives. Similarly, I'm so very tired of Ric's continued efforts to bait people and countries into conflict, whether IC or OOC.

The sector doesn't have to be like this; Bastion doesn't have to be like this. I really do think it's time for those of us who have grown out of this sort of thing to band together and do our own thing.

Since Jake is bringing Elwynn to the table, what of the MTO resolution? Withdraw it?

I'd still like to continue the general discussion of what to do if a country breaks an MTO treaty. That seems important.

So, does Shireroth still want reparations, or do I ignore it as to not stir up opposition?

Don't mention the war, I think is the best way to go forward... there will be time for reparations.
