    If the server goes down...

    Postby Octavius » Wed Mar 28, 2012 11:37 pm

Go onto IRC and send me (IRC username: Octavy) a private message saying so. That way, if I'm around, I can restart the server; if I'm not around, I can restart the server when I get back to my computer.

Am I the only one who can't reach the server?

I've sent the host a message. I can't log into the admin panel to turn the server back on.

I'm not sure what's happening but I've been having very patchy server access the last couple of days. I think Scott might be able to help me. I think I got teleported out of the map and then died and my server has been patchy since.

The teleportation yesterday was me returning you to Jayagarh, but for some reason it failed and you ended up outside the world instead. I would have corrected it, but a few seconds later the server crashed and I wasn't able to get back on.

I don't know how much of this is my fault. I did some huge WorldEdit operations (with permission) with Chris standing by to reset things afterwards, but those went off okay, Chris reset everything, and then the map just started crashing every couple of minutes.

I'm done with WorldEdit for the time being, so hopefully things will settle down. Sorry for any part I might have played in the problem.

Yeah I haven't been able to get on for more than an hour or so without it going down, and it's down now.

By any chances do these WorldEdit operations explain why there is a massive circus tent (or whatever) in the middle of the map now?

It's been repeatedly going offline for no apparent reason lately. The control panel, however, will say that its running, which is nice and confusing if I'm only looking at that and not attempting to connect.

I think we should restrict the use of world edit for major problems that only the admin can take care of. Not use it anytime you have a problem with some building or the other.

My general stance is that, if something is so boring to build that you need to use WorldEdit for it, then it's too boring to exist and you shouldn't be building it at all.

    But yeah, thirded.

The building is actually a perfectly normal castle, but a bug causes it to have crazy colors on the map.

WorldEdit was being used to fix the bug (so yes, it was being used to fix a major problem that was unfixable otherwise, with permission of admin). I think it worked, but we'll find out on the next map update.

I was just disconnected. The server appears to be up, when I try to connect I get a "Disconnected by server. Internal server error" message.

Yeah, a lot of people including you and Zai keep cycling in and out. It's not crashing for me, but everything (villagers, animals, redstone) is working super slow.

I keep cycling in and out? I've tried repeatedly to get on, but have never been successful from my side. All I see is that error message.

I've seen a lot of "Saikar22 has joined" "Saikar22 has left" messages.

That could be me trying to see if the problem has been resolved, but it's never let me on.

I'd restarted it, but I guess it hasn't helped you with connecting.

Problem persists. I don't think this is just going to solve itself if given enough time.
