The lead bomber of the pair of Gr-200's accelerated to mach 2.2 whilst the Communications officer on-board engaged the signal jamming component of the L-1 Lokiskappen Electronic Warfare Suite. This specifically targeting intermittent radar and other electronic signals emanating from Nosquam and MoMA Station Erebus. 125 km ahead of the two bombers and the escorting fighter package was a creeping curtain of electromagnetic fog which only the most powerful radars could burn through. Civilian air traffic control would quickly begin to lose whatever cohesive picture of the situation that it may have had.
The Bombardier activated his targeting computer and brought up the list of available targets:
1) Nosquam Runway [Smuggling Infrastructure], Grid Reference Locked
2) "West Coast Cabbage Fields" [Production], Grid Reference Locked
3) "Barentsz-Carabiniers Strong House" [Barentsz Criminal Element], Grid Reference Locked
4) Nosquam Harbour [Smuggling Infrastructure], Grid Reference Locked...
Calculate Flight Path?
The Bombardier tabbed through the options and de-selected 2 (negligible value) and 3 (populated area). In the last instance if the bomber had carried precision munitions rather than bombs equipped with thermobaric warheads the strike could still have been carried out.
Instead the Bombardier selected another menu from the screen and up popped the alternative target list, which was rather sparse if you overlooked the unconfirmed location of a Raikothin weather station. Having contemplated briefly, and then discounted, dropping some bombs down the throat of whoever was luckless enough to be based in Station Erebus the Bombardier selected the Hovercraft Terminal at Jessvillia and communicated the revised target to the second bomber which acknowledged the change of plan. The lead bomber however would continue with delivering a strike against the airfield and the harbour which had, very briefly, become supply and distribution hubs of the Barentsz crime syndicate.
Against the planners and facilitators of the poisoning plot against the Prince of Elwynn, vengeance - the retribution that constitutes true justice - would now surely fall.
The pair of bombers split, each taking two fighters with them as escorts. They would soon be crossing into the 48 km no-fly zone established outside Shirerithian airspace by the Ursa Boreal Fleet enforcing a quarantine of the island. No threat warnings had been received yet but the pilot and co-pilot of the lead bomber were vigilant - paranoid even - that there might be a sudden and rapid change to that status.
