The town of Nosquam (more info) is a collection of thatched cottages with a few larger stone buildings in the center. Its population is about 1,200, mostly of the Absentian race, a people said to have been descended from ancient Cyberian colonies in the area.

Although there was once a thriving Shirerithian military base nearby, centuries of peace in this area have left it more or less defunct, and the assets that might have been able to fight off the Elwynnese attack have mostly been relocated to Corrigible and points further east.

The only person in town to realize the danger was the tech on staff in the control tower of the city's small airfield, which mostly ferried people back and forth to the hovercraft terminal in Jessvillia. At first, he thought the signs on his radar screen were some kind of glitch, being so much larger and more numerous than the little propeller planes that he usually saw. It was only a few seconds before he realized the truth. Over the radio link he usually used to guide the little propeller planes to his little runway, he sent a message:
We are a peaceful farming town. There is no military here. I have two little kids. Please turn back. Nosquam surrenders. Repeat, Nosquam surrenders.

The lead bomber of the pair of Gr-200's accelerated to mach 2.2 whilst the Communications officer on-board engaged the signal jamming component of the L-1 Lokiskappen Electronic Warfare Suite. This specifically targeting intermittent radar and other electronic signals emanating from Nosquam and MoMA Station Erebus. 125 km ahead of the two bombers and the escorting fighter package was a creeping curtain of electromagnetic fog which only the most powerful radars could burn through. Civilian air traffic control would quickly begin to lose whatever cohesive picture of the situation that it may have had.

The Bombardier activated his targeting computer and brought up the list of available targets:
1) Nosquam Runway [Smuggling Infrastructure], Grid Reference Locked
2) "West Coast Cabbage Fields" [Production], Grid Reference Locked
3) "Barentsz-Carabiniers Strong House" [Barentsz Criminal Element], Grid Reference Locked
4) Nosquam Harbour [Smuggling Infrastructure], Grid Reference Locked...
Calculate Flight Path?
The Bombardier tabbed through the options and de-selected 2 (negligible value) and 3 (populated area). In the last instance if the bomber had carried precision munitions rather than bombs equipped with thermobaric warheads the strike could still have been carried out.

Instead the Bombardier selected another menu from the screen and up popped the alternative target list, which was rather sparse if you overlooked the unconfirmed location of a Raikothin weather station. Having contemplated briefly, and then discounted, dropping some bombs down the throat of whoever was luckless enough to be based in Station Erebus the Bombardier selected the Hovercraft Terminal at Jessvillia and communicated the revised target to the second bomber which acknowledged the change of plan. The lead bomber however would continue with delivering a strike against the airfield and the harbour which had, very briefly, become supply and distribution hubs of the Barentsz crime syndicate.

Against the planners and facilitators of the poisoning plot against the Prince of Elwynn, vengeance - the retribution that constitutes true justice - would now surely fall.

The pair of bombers split, each taking two fighters with them as escorts. They would soon be crossing into the 48 km no-fly zone established outside Shirerithian airspace by the Ursa Boreal Fleet enforcing a quarantine of the island. No threat warnings had been received yet but the pilot and co-pilot of the lead bomber were vigilant - paranoid even - that there might be a sudden and rapid change to that status.

My personal feeling is either bomb a city already so we can accuse you of war crimes and figure out what to do next, or retreat and stop wasting our time.

Sorry we aren't going to indulge your inane need for moral superiority and if you can't figure out how to factor collateral damage into your ethical wailing that is hardly our concern.

Consider the hovercraft terminal hit. Scores dead. Great tragedy. Move on wind bags.

Sorry, I wasn't insisting on a city. I just meant actually do something instead of talking about how the bombers are in the air. Hovercraft terminal bombing is fine.

Edited for Leng Cabbage surfeit.
Captains Log, Stardate 13222.6

The Improvise in synchronous orbit above the north coast of Benacia.

Sensors indicate explosions near the homes of several crew members who have returned for shore leave.

Keptin, Arm phasers?

No, Cherkov. There seem to be two primitive aircraft.

(Hits intercom button on arm of chair.)

Welshy, can you give me two tractor beams?

Of course, are ye daft, man?

I'll have Dr. McCay check that later. For now, beam the pilots aboard, and bring the craft in by tractor beam to Shuttlebay 2. Erect a level 8 forcefield.

Around the pilots or the planes, Sir?

(Holding his head in his hands.)

Oh, both, WTPRH..............

And put then put shields up.

Makes as much sense as the rest of the claptrap...

Quirk, commanding Improvise
Any further mention of the 'Improvise' and it will get a gravship slammed into it.

[The Improvise was originally built by Absentia in the days of Puritania. Their arrival and actions on finding their ancestral homes being attacked seems logical. :-D]
