Almost 200 years ago, the cold war between Antica and Shireroth came to an end. Diplomatic relations were previously consistently strained, and nowhere was this felt more than the humble County of Mar Sara, which has so often and with such grave effects been the subject of international pressures over which it has no control. The olive branch was extended by the Antican government in 4681 ASC at the behest of the Chief Relations Officer. The murky origins of this intention are shielded from the historian's scrutiny, as the meetings of the Antican Cabinet are not recorded, even to the extent that the attendants are not even publically listed; this is even more the case with the ever-influential and mysterious Old Akhi's Club, of which many influential Antican governmental officers and Speakers over the centuries have been members. The embassy was established in Shirekeep during the reign of Ayreon II, perhaps because he was considered more outward-facing than his blood relative and immediate predecessor, Hasan II. The significance of this move by the Antican government cannot be stressed enough; prior to the Mango-Owl Pact, no bilateral treaties or agreements had been made between Shirekeep and Nafticon since the 3252 Treaty of Antica (Reborn), a mere spes of diplomatic recognition, encouragement of tourism and recognition of 'imaginary claims'. In multi-lateral terms, the Assembly did by act of legislation commit to join the Shirerithian Small Commonwealth in 3852 ASC, but the relationship was short-lived and probably pragmatic. By 4184 ASC, Antica had struck out from the web of Shireroth's influence. It retained membership in the international banking system which all civilised nations of Micras had come to rely on for the purposes of economic development and international trade, but it had yet again severed diplomatic ties.
