the young woman tugged at the sleeve of the newly-reself anointed Baron/Emperor.

Not having a lot to do, he followed.

"Loki promised us you would return, and he asked us to preserve this for you." There was a very large rock, and behind in seemed to be almost a hole in the water.

He looked puzzled.

"Say the words, m'lord. It is keyed to your voiceprint!"

His face cleared of it's confusion, and he said in as clear a voice as he could muster, "Shireroth sumus. Tempus in parte nostrum est."

The hole faded, and in it's place was a large ship at anchor. His eyes teared as he saw, riding at anchor, exactly as he last beheld it, the YMS Kaiser Mors V .

that would also explain their pigmentation if their subspecies' skin allows minimal oxidation once such deposits are sealed in some specialized pores.
