Names of the Union

The Senate,

recognizing Riqi Adurellion as the constitutional name of the Union in the Elw language,

acting under the first article of the Consensus,

adopts

AN ACT ON THE NAMES OF THE UNION



Chapter A -- The Native names

Section 1 -- Preliminary provisions

1. The constitutional name of the Union remains Riqi Adurellion in all languages.

2. The use of other names is regulated by this Act.


Section 2 -- Elw name

1. The official name of the Union is, in the Elw language, Riqi Adurellion.

2. It shall, outside for the use of the constitutional name, be permitted to render the name, in the Elw language, as Dôrellion, Amokôlia o Erimô.

Section 2 -- Hurmumol name

1. When contexts permit it, the name Elwin, Amokolya la Hurmu is encouraged to be used as the name of the Union.

2. The name of the Union shall when legally necessary (such as in treaties) be rendered Elwin, Amokolya la Hurmu (Riqi Adurellion).

Section 3 -- Hurmu Norse name

1. When contexts permit it, the name Ælvynneland, Amokolia ok Hurmu is encouraged to be used as the name of the Union.

2. The name of the Union shall when legally necessary (such as in treaties) be rendered Ælvynneland, Amokolia ok Hurmu (Riqi Adurellion).

Section 4 -- Amokolian name

1. When contexts permit it, the name Elwynn, Amokolië ünd Hurmu is encouraged to be used as the name of the Union.

2. The name of the Union shall when legally necessary (such as in treaties) be rendered Elwynn, Amokolië ünd Hurmu (Riqi Adurellion).

Section 5 -- Other names

1. The Union, recognizing the multitude of languages ("regional minority language(s)"), other than those named in the sections preceding this section, within the Union, affirms the right of authorities providing services in these languages (in this section "authority" or "authorities") to use the names of the Union in the particular languages.

2. An authority shall aim, in constitutional contexts, to use the constitutional name, as outlined in §1:1 of this Act, either directly in the Latin alphabet or as a transcription of the constitutional name into the script of the regional minority language in question.

3. An authority shall aim, in information to the public, to use a direct translation of Elwynn, Amokolia and Hurmu into the regional minority language in question.

4. An authority shall aim, when legally necessary, to give a rendering, in accordance with this section, of Elwynn, Amokolia and Hurmu (Riqi Adurellion) into the regional minority language in question.

CHAPTER B -- Names in English and foreign languages

Section 6: English language

1. When contexts permit it, the name Elwynn, Amokolia and Hurmu is encouraged to be used as the name of the Union.

2. The name of the Union shall when legally necessary (such as in treaties) be rendered Elwynn, Amokolia and Hurmu (Riqi Adurellion).

Section 7: Foreign languages

1. In dealings outside the Union where the Union resorts to a foreign language, either in direct dealings or through translation, the constitutional name of the Union remains Riqi Adurellion, either directly in the Latin alphabet or transcribed into the script of the foreign language.

2. Where the context so permits, the Union shall employ, in a foreign language, a translation of Elwynn, Amokolia and Hurmu into that language.

3. In any treaty entered into by the Union following this Act, a rendering of Elwynn, Amokolia and Hurmu (Riqi Adurellion) into the foreign language shall be employed and used.


CHAPTER C: Names in legislation

Section 8: The Union

1. The terms "Union", "State", "Realm" and "Union Realm" shall in legislation and instruments of government, unless the context otherwise implies, be synonymous with the union of countries bearing the constitutional name Riqi Adurellion.

2. The term "country" or "constituent country" shall in legislation and instruments of government, unless the context otherwise implies, be synonymous with a country of the Union (Elwynn, Amokolia or Hurmu).

Section 9: Names previously used

No provision in this Act shall be construed to redefine any other name used by the Union previously to the coming into force of this Act.

Section 10: Country names

1. The official names of the constituent countries in any language used in the Union, including English, shall be decided by the appropriate authorities in the country itself and thereafter be transmitted to the Court of the Prince or the appropriate Minister.

2. Notwithstanding any provision in §8:1, the names of the countries, as defined in Article 22 of the Consensus, may in all legislation be employed unless the context otherwise requires.

CHAPTER D: Final provisions

Section 11: The Executive

1. The Executive shall be be charged to implement this Act.

2. The Executive is authorized, in implementing the Act, to issue regulations on the provisions of the Act.
