Celebrations in Huyenkula

Post by Sindre Nemnai »

A few hours before midnight on 20th of Filadin 622, the people of Huyenkula and many out-of-towners had gathered at Cashma Park in front of the old Palace of the Elenaran.

The square was uplit and there was a celibrating atmosphere. People spoke to total strangers, joked and hugged each other. Youths were kissing by the trees and some children were paddling about in the cool ponds in the park.

The authorities had promised to give no speeches but instead given the public an open-air concert in the park by the palace. Hurmu music of various genres was played. People sang along to the popular tunes.

A quarter of an hour before midnight, all bands and singers and artists joined each other on the scene and began playing the Hurmu anthem Brida mar be-Hurmu (Life is Hurmu). Not all ten stanzas were usually sung but now they were. And upon the last chorus, the last line "Toj mar be-Hurmu" (We are Hurmu), it was a new day and the sky lit up in great fireworks.

Half an hour later, 12 men and women walked up to the Palace, bowed to the people by the park. These were the Senators of the Lakes and they would now begin their first constituent meeting in the Palace. Among these, Sindre Nemnai, has been selected Chairman of the Senate of the Lakes and he was expected to speak to the nation in the morning.
