Tea and the Tea Road

Post by Aryeztur »

Aryasht is the place where tea was discovered and domesticated in this world. Tea was one of the first exports of this country, and is still one of its primary export. It is the product by which Aryasht first became more widely known around the world. As such, the trade routs leading to Aryasht became known as the "Tea routes" or "Tea Road." Among many of the peoples living close to Aryasht, tea acquired a mystical aura as it spread with the faith of Sattva and it was associated with producing mystical experiences (when the leaf was smoked) or inducing deep prayer and concentration (when drunk). In fact, tea is associated with contemplation while other drinks such as coffee and wine have a more boisterous and social role in Aryashti society.

In an era where water quality was questionable, tea, because it is made with boiled water, was undoubtedly considered a safe drink. Often when infused with herbs or dairy, it was also healthy and medicinal.

Tea in its finished product (dried leaves) is exported from Aryasht in great varieties and quantities. It is forbidden to export tea plants or seeds as this would hurt the economy of Aryasht.

Me making some Aryashti tea (don't know why it says 2006 since I made it today, 5/21/2011). Ingredients: darjeeling black tea, mint, water, sugar:
