Cartography class?
Would there be any interest in an IRC cartography class in which I teach people how to make maps like the latest version of Pelagia?
I think I could teach most of what I know in five one-to-two hour classes, though that could be wildly unrealistic.
It'd require Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, which you of course could only get legally so as to keep the the economy from collapsing and hold the pirates at bay, and one step would probably require Fractal Mapper which is free but unfortunately limited to the PC; you could skip that step without it being a disaster.
I'll do the work if there are let's say four people interested.

I would show up to the first class but would not commit to following through on the rest if it was boring or moved slowly. Which step is it that requires Fractal Mapper?

Making coastlines, ie the first class. You can hand-draw coastlines, but it takes a long time and they usually don't look too good.

I'd be interested in the class too but I need to get the program.

Re: Cartography class?
Do hand-drawn coastlines look bad because they are hand-drawn, or because something about them doesn't interact well with later steps? Because I'm usually pretty happy with how squiggly my hand-drawn coastlines come out.

"Hand-drawn" may be a misnomer; I was referring to coastlines drawn on MSPaint or with Photoshop's pencil tool. I don't have a scanner, but I imagine literally hand-drawn ones wouldn't be as bad.

I'd need to know what time it would be conducted at, but I'm interested as well.

Re: Cartography class?
I am thinking of holding the second cartography class Monday night. CJ and Alicorn, does this work for you?
