Re: Aesileif
As one of my other characters was the Storish Ambassador to the former Kingdom of Batavia, I would like to point out that the incarnation you are referring to actually is the reunified Batavia under the so-called Akkoord of Lannion which was duly recognized by the MCS.Verion wrote:And both the two official successor states of the old Kingdom of Batavia (The Kingdom of Batavia in Jingdao and the Free State of Flanders) did not recognise this particular incarnation and neither did the MCS. So, it's absolute folly and you should remove the title.
Just my two øre.

Re: Aesileif
It was briefly recognised yes. As you will see, that's me posting the claim... However, that was only briefly... No real Batavian has recognised the coronation of Frederik Hendrik.

Re: Aesileif
The whole point of this is that we (the then active original Batavians) decided that it was time to bury Batavia. All the attempts to revive it failed, and we wanted no more part of it. Let Batavia be history.
Unfortunately, Harald found it necessary to affix his name to the sad remnants of Batavia, and now claims titles. It's terribly annoying.

Re: Aesileif
Jack mentioned this post to me and as Batavian I'm going to give my view on things:
Firstly, Batavia has been integrated into Jingdao. Tianhoucheng is at this moment the only city in the world where Batavian culture is still more or less blossoming (and tolerated by the Jingdaoese administration). It's still home to the old institutions, like the KJUC (Koninklijke Julius Civilis Universiteit) for example. I reached an agreement with king Noah that soon a campus will be opened in Amokolia to establish international cooperation.
Secondly, back in the days we wrote a story about how millions of Batavians fled to 's Koningenwaarde and surrounding areas, because the Jingdaoese military did not have the capacity to protect the whole country against the Green (do not forget that beforehand the country was plagued by civil strife before the Jingdaoese had brought order). I have hastily read some stories concerning Jingdaoese destructions of Batavia, but those do not match with what really happened (I don't blame the writers, as Jingdao's policies are often rather... harsh... but in this case the implosion of Batavian society didn't lie with them). Many of them were evacuated to northern Apollonia to start a new life.
That being said, I don't mind someone walking around with the title Queen Dowager, but honestly, one can hardly call the spouse of Frederik-Hendrik a legitimate king. There certainly is a connection between the des Vinandy dynasty and the Stormarkian imperial family, but with Frederik-Hendrik you haven't really chosen the strongest link.
I honestly wouldn't mind if I was sure that this wasn't a potential (well meant) attempt to claim pieces of Batavian culture. It starts with this, but before you know it everything is copied, and the Batavian name becomes one more title in the list of an Elwynnese or Stormarkian ruler. There are still sufficient Batavians around who have more right to claim Batavia's culture and name. They are welcome for a sip of tea in 's Koningenwaarde.
