Towards Bilateral Commerce

Post by Thadeus Laing »

Greetings Officials and Business Magnates of Toketi,

My name is Thadeus Lange, Jr. Perhaps you may have heard
of me in one of the articles written by Liam Sinclair. A thorough
proponent of micronational economics, I have been an important
participant in developments such as SCUE, a project to convert
ANUNIA points into SCUE currency, and implementation of
gaming in several governments. Presently I am serving as the
Economic Minister of The Brettish Isles, a seafaring nation
with a large merchant navy and tradition of commerce and finance.
I am here to see if we can find common ground so that we can
work towards increased bilateral commerce.

My mission is separate from the Foreign Ministry of The Brettish
Isles. It is my task to seek out and improve bilateral commerce
with foreign trading partners. Therefore, please do not take this
visit for diplomacy or as leading towards some sort of political
alliance--it may contribute to that, one would hope, but then
again it also may not. That said, Toketi seems like a peaceful
benevolent nation to me at this time. And I do think that our
traders and businesspeople would find that to be beneficial.

I have reason to believe that hidden away in Toketi are some
of the largest riches on Micras--well, at least as far as SCUE
is concerned. It is spoken of at the financial summits with
the other economic ministers. Much of it has to do with the
fact that Andreas' company VBNC is headquartered here, and,
of course, many years ago, SCUE was developed largely by VBNC
personnel. Also Andreas is the current SCUE Administrator.

(Andreas, if you are reading this: There is a small matter I would
like to speak with you about incidentally--it pertains to "rising
inequality." I will leave it at that. Any discussion of this matter
I would prefer to be in private because this has the potential to
be a sensitive topic to some individuals and entities.)

Well, I have said what I wished to say. Now you may wish
to respond. If you wish to respond to anything in private,
you may of course send me a private message.

Cheers,

Thadeus Lange Jr

Certainly, once we get the forum and government structure sorted out (when our king returns) we can definitely discuss the potential economic cooperation - though I imagine that will still largely come down to me rather than any other citizens showing much interest. We'll see

As for inequality - if you're thinking of the problems inherent in the SCUE that have sprung up because of how money is allocated to new nations while large amounts of money are tied up in old nations (or whoever had control of the bank passwords when their nation went bust), I'm open to ideas for change/considering a reset, but I'm not the one you need to convince - you need to get a majority of SCUE nations on board (or at least a majority of those who will bother to have any say in a discussion on this). I'm just impressed that we've got an economic treaty that's still going since June 2009 - that's 5 years. No wonder it's getting a little old and broken now - in Gralus, we reformed our magic system at least every two years for exactly that reason :geek:
The character Andreas the Wise is on indefinite leave. But he does deserve a cool war ribbon.

However, this account still manages:
Vincent Waldgrave - Lord General of Gralus
Manuel - CEO of VBNC. For all you'll ever need.
Q - Director of SAMIN
Duke Mel'Kat - Air Pirate, Melangian, and Duke of the Flying Duchy of Glanurchy
Cla'Udi - Count of Melangia
Vur'Alm Xei'Bôn - Speaker of Nelaga, Minister of Interior Affairs, and a Micron
