Working on replacing those blocks of letters with handmade furniture layouts.

You could also use "interesting..." for the same purpose.

Having a friend who plays Dwarf Fortress, this sort of reminds me of it. (On that note, Ari, you should totally have flows of lava in there. And maybe some traps for invading undead. And maybe just-for-the-hell-of-it doors made out of solid gold.)

I think it's pretty clear that it's a map of Ari's palace. :king:

Hurray Dwarf Fortress!

My personal favorite defense mechanism is a "wave machine"

Have a long path to your entrance, with a very large tank on one side with floodgates along the bottom, and a crevice leading to another subterranean tank. It gets set up such that when an enemy gets close to the entrance, both ends of the path close off and the tank empties over it. Then through some nifty mechanism, the bottom tank automatically gets pumped into the above-ground tank.

*shrug* It's something I thought up, decided to work on, and after a few days made a properly working version. It's particularly fun when you cover the bottom of the crevice with large spikes. After a few goblin sieges, there gets to be a lot of blood in the tank.
