Steward election 1667

We are in mourning – our Steward, Hartmut Aldric, the Duke of Calezi, has died, probably murdered. While investigations are underway, and the Imperial Republic in a state of mourning by the command of our Lord the Radiant Sun – who has confirmed the King of Goldshire acting Steward – it is our solemn obligation to elect a new Steward.

I ask for nominations. If there is only one candidate, the Landsraad shall have a confirmation vote (yes or no). If there are two candidates, the one with plurality will be elected. If there are three or more candidates, we will have a ranked-choice voting.

First of all, I would like to pay tribute to the late Duke of Calezi. Throughout his life he has been a decicated servant of the Crown and the Imperial Republic, ever loyal. Not once did he stray – despite his relationship with the late Prince Audun Joel, he was true to the Imperial Republic's Vanic laws, honouring them, believing in them, and strenghtening them. This honoured him.

He died a martyr for all that is good with this Imperial Republic.


Now, to replace the late Duke, I see no better person than the Lady Soraya II of Octavius-Parini, Count Palatine of Kezan, Viscountess Montran. She has been a member of the Imperial Government continuously since 1651 as member of the Imperial Advisory Council, Imperial Minister and Chamberlain of the Imperial Household, also serving as regent 1666–1667. No other member of the Imperial Government, remaining in good mental and physical health, has such extensive experience. Therefore it is my honour to nominate her for election to Steward of the Imperial Republic.

Ample time has been given for nominations to be brought before us, and time is of the essence. We must move forward to voting.

As there is only one candidate for election to Steward, Lady Soraya II of Octavius-Parini, Count Palatine of Kezan, Viscountess Montran, the Landsraad will in this election, under the rules of the house, vote on whether or not to nominate the Lady Soraya II for the Kaiser's appointment of Steward of the Imperial Republic.

Voting has ended. With three votes in favor (Kezan, Lord Sentratera, Lady Sentratera), and one vote against (Caldwell), Lady Soraya II of Octavius-Parini, Count Palatine of Kezan, Viscountess Montran, has been elected the Landsraad's nominee for Steward of the Imperial Republic.
