It should be prudent to allow ranked voting for Landsraad elections with more than one candidate. As such, a truer representation of the electorate's will will be made in the final elect.
As such, I propose a change to Section 3 of the Rules of Procedure of the Landsraad, currently reading:
My proposal would have it read:Section 3. Elections.
In any election with more than one candidate, the candidate receiving a plurality of votes. In confirmation elections (that it to say when there is only one candidate), the candidate must enjoy the favour of the Landsraad, in the form of a plurality of AYE votes, in order to be confirmed.
Section 3. Elections.
In any election with two candidates, the candidate receiving a plurality of votes shall be elected. In confirmation elections (that it to say when there is only one candidate), the candidate must enjoy the favour of the Landsraad, in the form of a plurality of AYE votes, in order to be confirmed.
In any election of three or more candidates, the instant-runoff voting (also known as the alternative vote) shall be used.
