World Cup Draw, Incontinentia Friendly & Staff Announced

Post by Tarekseev »

Big Big Intermicronational News Ahead of the World Cup...

Shireroth will be in Group A as hosts and will open their match against Taeland. The hosts have been handed a tough group with 2009 Champions Alexandria and former 2007 finalists Toketi alongside Taeland. It's looking likely that the Shirerithians will need to get a result in their latter two games if they want to proceed further into the stages, but Shirerithian manager Paolo Ste-Laurent is confident that Shireroth will do a good job.

The former Alexandrian manager, who led them to the 2009 victory says, "Shireroth are a different team to 2 years ago. Same way as Alexandria. There are still good players here and on home soil, we can deliver. Alexandria are not invincible and neither are Toketi or Taeland. If we play our game and the fans can get involved, then we will be in good condition."

Also, with 8 weeks to go, the Tellian has arranged 3 friendly matches with the first being next Wednesday against Incontinentia. The following friendlies will be the end of July against Nova England and Nova English Korea, giving the players a break from the PSL season. With the exception of Nova England, Ste-Laurent describes the games as "confidence building and team gelling opportunities."

He said in his media announcement, "Incontinentia is a chance for players to prove their worth and see if they're going to prepared to play in the World Cup, whilst the tour of Nova England should test our strength and build our confidence and let the team unite and blend and work together."

It is understood that next week's clash will involve no players from JHI-LK or Mortis Mercatoria, allowing the likes of Tor Svensson, Mickey Graves, Gary Smith and Rranr Kikksta some time to rest. The match will mark the opening of the National Tarekseev Stadium intermicronationally, with Shireroth's debut game at their new home following the weekend's big Kaiser Cup clash between JHI-LK and Mortis Mercatoria.

On a final note, Ste-Laurent has announced his coaching team for the World Cup campaign. Raikoth's Chaim Eisenfeld will be the assistant manager, former an all Ashkenatzi (and Tellian) partnership in the senior management. Nicola Azzaro will join the team as Goalkeeping Coach after switching from Alexandria, whilst Alexandrian Samuel Méard and Tellians Diego Caprera and Carlo Freddi will also join as team coaches. Shirerithian Zjaesun Vaest will remain as the team physio.
