Ministerial Edict 1664/M/E/001: Batavian Legion

  1. The Batavian Legion is hereby formed for the defence and security of the territory of the Imperial Dominion of Batavia.
  2. The Batavian Legion shall also provide aid to the civil power in Batavia.
  3. Cohorts 013, 117, 221, 325, 429, 533, 647, 751, 855, & 959, along with Regiments 1063, 1167, & 1271, of the Imperial Army's Land Command are hereby assigned to the Batavian Legion.
  4. His Imperial Highness, David Raion Kalirion, Prince of Shireroth, is appointed Salbnan of the Batavian Legion. Serving as his aide de camp shall be Salbnan Alatheus Saphrax of the Frontier Army.
  5. The Batavian Legion may raise additional auxiliary and militia formations, integrating local police and paramilitary forces, as required.
  6. Administratively the Batavian Legion forms a part of IV Corps of the Frontier Army.
  7. Operationally the Batavian Legion forms a part of the Western Banner Group of Benacia Command.
  8. Personnel, wages, and provisions, shall be provided for the Batavian Legion by Land Command.
  9. Equipment and munitions shall be provided for the Batavian Legion by Benacia Command.

"When asked for a small group to act as a temporary security force, the royalist Batavian movement did not expect the prince to become head of an army. While grateful, it is a good thing to reconfirm that the prince is not willing to take power in Batavia through military ways. Neither do we aspire to set up a rival government. Respect for the decisions of the Lagerhuis, elected by the Batavians, is the key to the prosperity of the nation. This is something the Shirerithian government is already aware of, but can't be said (and clarified) enough to avoid misunderstandings."

Of course. There will only be a regiment from this designated as the Royal Life Guard. The remainder will have enough to attend to in the normal course of their duties.
