Lewis v. Steward

Post by Verion »

A petition by Stephen Lewis

V.

The Steward of the Imperial Republic

Lord Arbiter,

I wish to file suit against the Steward, and the Imperial Government for the unlawful decree made recently. I believe that this decree is contrary to the charter.

The Charter states that: The Imperial States are autonomous and self-governing on all matters not superseded by the Lawbook.

As there was no current election law governing the execution of the Folksraad elections, and the Charter does not regard electoral law as an Imperial competence, the Steward's decree transgresses the boundaries of the Charter, and should therefore be repealed.

Furthermore, I am personally implicated in the decree, a claim that cannot in any way be substantiated by evidence.

I wish for the decree to be declared void, and for the Steward to issue a formal apology towards me for smearing my name, and unlawfully accusing me of fraud.

Thank you,

S. L.

My Lord Arbiter,

On behalf of the Steward, I wish to address you concerning this petition to file suit against the Imperial Government.

The applicant is subject to an official order sanctioning his arrest, so it is right and proper that the individual in question be held pending an arraignment hearing. As the miscreant is presently at liberty, I suspect with assistance from certain third parties, I do not consider it proper therefore for the court to hear the matter before the plaintiff has been brought before your Lordship in chains.

For that reason I ask your Lordship to dismiss the suit and thereby to permit any pertinent questions contained therein to be examined when the rebel ringleaders are brought to trial.

Well, if I'm the problem then - I'll happily take a back seat for a bit. Let you chaps get on with it.

Is it now the policy of the Imperial Judex to dismiss civil suits at the order of the executive branch?
