Minutes for 23 Konil 1668

All 44 senators elected earlier this year were seated and sworn in for a 4 year term by the Prince-President.

The Prince-President called the senators to order and asked for nominations for a President pro tempore to preside over the Congress during normal business. All parties represented in Congress put forward names:

The Free Juice and Bagels Party nominated Mr Eiiard Darkroot, Senator from Flaventia (Hazelwood).
The Union for Democratic Movement nominated Ms Justine Freiberg, Senator from Sororiya (Butter Cow City).
The National Party of Alrodey nominated Ms Geraldine Polk, Senator from Alrodey (Rostock).
The Nationalist and Humanist Party nominated Ms Dadhija Panni, Senator from Tas Neemia (Tassity).
The Workers' Party of Alrodey nominated Mr Percival Hastings, Senator from Alrodey, (Ashington).

A roll-call vote for each nominee was held from smallest to largest party (by seats in the Congress). Votes were held along party lines.

Mr Eiiard Darkoot was elected by a plurality of votes as President pro tempore of the Congress.

The Prince-President invited Senator Darkroot to the Chair, offered him a gavel, and gave him instructions to preside over the congress in his absense, establish rules and procedures, and to begin discussing legislation.

The Prince-President adjoined the session for a two-hour lunch.

The President pro tempore called the Congress to order, called for a roll-call. All members present.

The President pro tempore submitted rules and procedures to the Congress. Approved by majority.

The President pro tempore created several committees and assigned senators to serve on these committees.

The President pro tempore adjourned the Congress, requesting members to return by 10AM the next day.
