Green Valley

About 25 miles south of the city of Visqeoor lies the township of Green Valley. Sparcely populated, it covers much of the rural area directly east of the Elwynn river. Green Vally town is the center of the community, a small town that has the bare necessities for the locals to live their lives in peace and relative ease. The climate of the area, mild and dry summers and winters, make that crops such as weat, corn and rye grow fairly well. As such, the community is mainly agricultural.

Since the rather desolated location and the bad and dangerous roads that have been the sight of several small uprisings against both the fascist and the communist governments that Elwynn has seen in the past decades, mostly by extreme fractions from Visqeoor, the township is largely self-reliant and the locals try to limit visits to Visqeoor for the mere essential things.

It is estimated that about 700 people live in Green Valley and its immediate surroundings. This number is however hard to ratify since the mountainridge that seperates the valley from the east is home to many trappers and mountainmen who travel across western Elwynn.

The community has a large sense of self determination, but seem to be loyal to the national autorities. The location of the valley makes that the residents don't really have much contact with the communist regime in Eliria and live their lives isolated from national politics. Fascist, Ayreonist and even Icebearian factions who roam mostly north of Visqeoor sometimes head south but their violent agression against the communists, often resulting in bloodshed and damage to trade relations, is not much appreciated by the residents of Green Valley.

They only care about their homes, families and their own pursuit of hapiness in their corner of the world.

Although the residents of Green Valley often live miles apart from each other, the sense of community is present. The local gatherings in the townhall every 3rd saturday to discuss agricultural plans and necessary collective works are the center of the local community. There is no government in a sense that all men of above 16 years of age have a equal say in decisions made for the benefit of the township. More often than not however, these decisions aren't even necessary. The people of Green Valley are known for their 'can do mentality' and do not hesitate to help their neighbours out or to spend some time working for the benefit of the township. Of course not without losing sight of their own property.

The society builds closely on voluntary means of cooperation. Every citizen acknowledges that it is in the best interest of everyone to help each other out and to create a harmonious situation. On the other hand, every citizen is expected to work hard and to try their best to succeed in life. People know that the lazy lifestyle cannot bring happiness and that real satisfaction in life can only be reached when you work for the things you want to achieve.
