Construction of rail tunnel to New Riverina

Work has begun on a new rail tunnel which will link Tiana with New Riverina. The construction of Vancona station has begun, with platforms being built with the view of an expanded network on Tiana to be built later. The line will run for around 40 km out of Vancona until it reaches the tunnel section, where it will run under the sea to New Riverina.

Some rails have already been laid with the remaining above-surface section of the route having being already surveyed, cleared and levelled ahead of the putting down of the rails. Pylons for the overhead wires will be added soon, but construction on the tunnel has yet to begin, with negotiations with the New Riverinans needed to ensure the tunnel is built to the highest standards.

Due to the collapse of the New Riverinan state, the Senyan and Tianan governments have agreed to suspend all construction work on this rail tunnel.

There has been a suggestion from some citizens about the completion of the construction of this tunnel to Francia, who now occupy the nearest stretch of the mainland.

The Senyan government will now weigh up the benefits and costs of this suggestion before proceeding.
