Petition: Re-convening of parliament

Post by DES Senya » Wed Mar 13, 2019 11:08 am

Under Senyan referendum law, citizens of Senya may petition the government to challenge any of its rulings, or to bring a debate to parliament.

100,000 signitures are required to bring a petition to government, whilst 1,000,000 are required to call a binding referendum.

A petition was launched over the dismissal of parliament for elections. The petition is as follows:
Many citizens believe that the timing of the dismissal of parliament for elections was ill-advised due to the current expansion project along the Comoleo. This initiative requires leadership, and as many citizens believe that the current government had been doing a good job in the role of the expansion, believe that this leadership should remain in place until such time as it is complete.

We desire that:
1) The parliament be re-convened
2) The parliament holds off its dissolution until after the completion of the Comoleo project.
The above petition currently has 1,002,381 signatures, as such, a referendum will be launched.

As this petition concerns to the disillusionment of parliament, the vote will take place on Friday.

The following indicates the result of the referendum:

Should parliament re-convene until the completion of the Upper Camoleo project?
Yes: 6,423,092 (74.9%)
No: 2,148,737 (25.1%)

As such, parliament will be re-convened.

Although the Upper Camoleo project is now complete, the referendum will be delayed until such time that is considered that the infrastructure in the new regions is up to a good enough standard that elections may be considered functionally possible.
