D-1019-2 Phasing out the internal combustion engine

DICTATE BY THE COUNCIL OF DRIFTWOOD
Providing law to the land and the people of the Alriggian Republic.


Accepted on the thirteenth day of the tenth month of the two-thousand and nineteenth year of our Lord. Being the 1677th year of the New Common Calendar.


The Council of Driftwood makes known that it has decided that the use of the internal combustion engine, or a steam engine, for transport vehicles will be phased out in the nation.

As of 1680, the sale of vehicles that are required to have a license plate with an internal combustion engine, or a steam engine, shall be made illegal and no license plates shall be issued for such vehicles.

As of 1688, vehicles that are required to have a license plate with an internal combustion engine, or a steam engine, shall be allowed to travel no more than 1,000 kilometers each year. To be reported each year at the date of the periodic technical inspection by the vehicle inspector to the office of the president's vehicle registration desk.

Starting in 1678 the Council of Driftwood shall fund efforts by the circles to facilitate the efforts of citizens to adapt to these measurements and migrate to electric transport. The Western Circle shall receive 2,500,000 kala each year, the Eastern Circle shall receive 5,500,000 kala each year and the Northern Circle shall receive 1,000,000 kala each year. Funding shall end by the end of the year 1688.
