A view of Halueve Hall.

Halueve Hall, also known as Sysselmanshǫll, is the seat of the Palatine King of Uppland. Sitting atop a wooded rocky promontory called Achranthoul Rock, Halueve Hall is situated just outside the Royal City of Konungursbýur, the capital of the Marcher Kingdom.

The Hall is named after its founder Jarl Sigtyr Thordursson of the House of Halueve, the first Valtian Sysselman of the Upplandish Marches. Jarl Sigtyr built a ringfort on the peak of Achranthoul Rock, which over time was replaced by a succession of castles and fortresses. Each new construction expanded upon the natural defenses through the addition of walls, gates, and watchtowers. Halueve Hall is rife with tunnels, dungeons, storerooms, barracks, halls, stables, stairways, courtyards, balconies, and gardens. It boasts the largest non-temple Godsgroves of Natopia. Halueve Hall has never fallen to neither siege nor storm. The term "Halueve Hall" has from the year 1633 onwards often been used as a metonym for the Palatine King's Private Cabinet.

The present Sysselmanshǫll was built during the tenure of Jarl Hilmar Njálsson of the House of Karsstaoir as Sysselman of the Upplandish Marches, which took place at the height of the Valtian Empire. Few changes have ever since been made to the Hall's layout and exterior. One of the most notable exceptions is Halueve Hall's roof, which nowadays is tiled blue in lieu of red in honour of the House of Ettlingar Freyu, a Konungstekja gift from the Upplandish population to its King. From the year 1633 onwards the stronghold has undergone several major renovations and upgrades.

Subsequent to the death in captivity of Birger Hlidbergsson of the House of Ar Merer, Duke of Uppland during its short-lived independence posterior to the destruction of Valtia, a secretive knightly order called the Knights of the Rock, also known as the Klippriddare as well as the Klipporden, took possession of Halueve Hall. The Knights of the Rock remained in control of Halueve Hall through the whole of the Age of Darkness as well as the Second the Viking Age till the year 1633 when the stronghold was given to King Noah after his election to the Marcher Throne by the Kjósathing. The knightly order kept Halueve Hall in good repair and their presence kept the lands surrounding the stronghold, including Jarl Sigtyr's Town, relatively safe in spite of the area being part of The Green until the Upplandish Marches became part of the Caprine Country in the year 1620. After the election of King Noah to the Marcher Thone the Knights of the Rock were incorporated in the Fleur de Lys-Longships Guard, where they presently serve as the Palatine King's personal bodyguard.

As Achranthoul Rock contains large Elf-carved canals and caverns which are connected to Halueve Hall, the aforesaid wooded rocky promontory is since times ancient beyond the memory of woman deemed to be part of Halueve Hall. Containing a fabled bounty of precious metals and gem stones, some deposits untouched to this very day, Achranthoul Rock has been mined for thousands of years and as a consequence there are hundreds of mineshafts to be found in its depths. Sysselmanshǫll's inner port, Havararshavn, is situated in such a cavern. It has docks, wharves, and shipyards and is accessible by longships, freighters and various other (sizable) vessels.

Prominent Sites of Halueve Hall

  • Achranthoul Rock: the wooded rocky promontory on which Halueve Hall is situated. In Udal parlance is the said rocky promontory nowadays also known as the King's Rock and the Fylke in which the Royal City of Konungursbýur is located, Konungursklippe, derives its name from the mount aforesaid.
  • Æreslunden: a wooded area which has stood untouched since the Days of Valtia, with four acres of old packed earth and close together trees creating a dense canopy, which Halueve Hall was raised around. Serving as Halueve Hall's Grove of Honour, the area is enclosed by walls of marble and dotted with runestones commemorating various deceased individuals from the history of Uppland and Vanarike as well as heroes from the same who are still among the living. It contains, amongst others, runestones commemorating the Storjarla Björka Hnossdóttir, the Lady Esther Ayreon-Kalirion, the Prince Audun Joel of Araxion, and the Kaiseress Noor of Shireroth.
  • Baegloc's Walk: a squat, half-round tower that contains the entrance to the dungeons. The top floors hold the cells for the prisoners who are to be kept in a larger degree of comfort. The entrance to the dungeons sits on the ground floor of the tower, with the dungeons beneath the tower.
  • Branaal Tower: known prior to the year 1659 as the Library Tower, this tower houses the library of the Lord of the Marcher Throne. It contains the better of part of His Viking Majesty's large and arcane collection of books, maps, and manuscripts. The tower is also home to a collection of coins and ancient artifacts stretching back to the Days of Valtia and beyond.
  • Citadelle des Fleurinots: the in-house barracks of the Fleur de Lys-Longships Guard. Each of its gates is flanked by a pair of tall aquamarine sphinxes with the bodies of lions, the wings of eagles and the tails of serpents. One has the face of a man, the other a woman. It includes a common hall, offices, vaults, dormitories, cellars, an armoury as well as a museum with a collection that shows the evolution of the FLG's uniform, personal objects, artwork, authentic papers, arms, clothing and family relics.
  • Den Landsförvisade Konungens Sal: a vast space for the hosting of the larger feasts, dinners, banquets, galas, investitures, awards ceremonies and balls. It has a floor of inlaid mosaics, walls covered with painted tableaux and stained glass windows, and is spanned high overhead with a copiously decorated vaulted ceiling. In Udal parlance it is often referred to as the Delks or simply as Konungens Sal. Anterior to the year 1659 Den Landsförvisade Konungens Sal was known as the Grand Ballroom.
  • Epistle Tower: the tower that houses the Hofhâldings Bréfarsamlingús, the archive which preserves the personal and official correspondence of the Palatine King of Uppland.
  • Gascon Marble Gallery: a bridge connecting the Swan Islands - an artificial archipelago of thirteen islets in the Godsgrove of Halueve Hall - spanning a rivulet flowing between several ponds. Its name is derived from the marble from the Duchy of Gascony with which it was built.
  • Guþsele: a monumental loggia which is modeled after the Loggia della Signoria, a loggia from the Days of Valtia which is situated in the Royal City of Messina, the capital of the County of Sicilia. The aforesaid loggia was in the late 1640s commissioned by King Noah to honour Upplandish warriorhood throughout times as well as the tradition of the Fleur de Lys-Longships Guard. It was revealed in 1648, the year in which the Fleurinots celebrated their twenty-fifth anniversary.
  • Hall of Jubilation: the throne room of Halueve Hall. The Marcher Throne is situated in the room aforesaid.
  • Havararshavn: The inner port of Halueve Hall. It is situated in a huge Elf-carved cavern and has docks, wharves, and shipyards and is accessible by longships, freighters and various other (sizable) vessels.
  • Kendra's Lance: the tallest tower of Halueve Hall. It is named after the famed Lady Knight from the Duchy of Normandie, Dame Kendra Harcourt. Prior to the year 1633 it was known as Höga Tornet.
  • King's Courtyard: one of the main courtyards of Halueve Hall.
  • King's Tower: the tower that houses the study and the apartments of the Palatine King. It also contains the Sýslumaðursherbergi, the chamber where the King's Council meets. Various images have been carved in the glass of the tower's windows by Elvish crafts(wo)men.
  • Konungsvinnustofa: the Palatine King's study. It is situated in the King's Tower.
  • Kungatemplet: a Vanic Temple which is since times ancient beyond the memory of woman located inside Halueve Hall. As per Convention between the Marcher Throne and the Church of the Caprine Ancient Ways, this temple is nowadays both a Royal Peculiar and the Chapel of the Order of the Two Sacred Rivers. It is very richly furnished. The Temple's floors are made of marble and it has great windows of leaded, colored glass. In opulence this Temple can rival any of the Thirteen Temples of Caprinaia.
  • Little Feet Garden: a former courtyard which has - at the orders of King Noah in honour of Queen Naya giving safely birth to her treasured triplets, the Princes Llŷr and Eremias Vidarion and the Princess Thyra - been converted into a bright and airy garden. It contains - among others - carnations, violets, daffodils, daisies, lilies, roses, gladioli, asters, marigolds, chrysanthemums and poinsettias, which are the twelve birth flowers.
  • Marcher Stairs: a staircase situated on the King's Courtyard, wide enough for twenty people to walk abreast on it, primarily used for purposes of ceremony.
  • Måltyre Canal: a canal in the Royal City of Konungursbýur leading to the Royal Gate where it flows into Achranthoul Rock, continuing inside the said rocky promontory until it mouths in Halueve Hall's inner port. It is connected to the mighty Belanore ring canal.

  • Ravhǫll: a large State Room decorated in amber panels backed with gold leaf and mirrors, which is modelled after a similar space in the Great Hall of Valtia. It took Elvish crafts(wo)men over ten years to construct the chamber aforesaid.
  • Royal Gate: one of the huge gates of Halueve Hall. Situated on Måltyre Canal it is the gateway to Halueve Hall's inner port. It has a gilded portcullis and is large enough for a frigate to pass through it.
  • Scribe's Hearth: a long building which is the home of the Royal Scribery of the Marcher Kingdom. It contains records stretching all the way back to the Days of Valtia.
  • Shieldhall: a long and austere hall, with walls made of blue-veined white marble which are adorned with the shields of the Houses where the knights of the secretive order called the Knights of the Rock hail(ed) from. It has narrow, arched windows, between which are torches mounted on high platinum sconces.
