An Act to provide for the regulations and operation of the Constancian courts

Be it enacted by the Βασιλεύς’s πλέον Βασιλεύς Μεγαλειότατε, by and with the advice and consent of the Δικαστής, in this present Σύνκλητος assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—



Article 1 - The High Court

Section A) The High Court of the Realm, in spirit of the Return to the origins Act 1632, is ceremonially called Anótato Dikastírio tis Vasíleio.

Section B) Anótato Dikastírio is the court of last resort and highest appellate court in Constancia

Section C) Anótato Dikastírio is primarily responsible for interpreting the constitution and deciding on the constitutionality of actions or lack of actions in any way connected to or impacting on the Free Associative Kingdom. The Anótato Dikastírio will also consider matters laid down in the Constitional Settlement Act of 1463, and may consider other matters with the approval of the Synklētos

Section D) Anótato Dikastírio is headed by the Basileus' Heroic Counselor, ceremonially called The Basileus Megaliótate's Iroikí Sýmvoulos. The Anótato Dikastírio consists of 4 other Councelors (Sýmvoulos) proposed by the Council, approved by the Synklētos and appointed by the Basileus. The Basileus may set a meetable eligibility criteria for potential candidates.

Article 2 - Other and local courts

Section A) The People's Court, ceremonially called Dikastiríou tou Laoú, is charged with responsibility of interpreting all Constancian laws. There shall be such courts in all major cities, established by the Basileus upon advice of the Council

Section B) Each Dikastiríou tou Laoú consists of at least 3 judges and not more than 24 judges.

Section C) A decision of the Dikastiríou tou Laoú is final, unless otherwise stated, and can only be appealed to the High Court with the Synklētos' approval.

Section D) The Basileus may pardon, or give amnesty to, Constancians or organisations over obligations resulted due to a decision of the Dikastiríou tou Laoú. This power does not extend to decisions of the Anótato Dikastírio.

Article 3 - Repeal, Extent, Commencement and Short Title

Section A) This Act extends to the whole of the Free Associative Kingdom of Constancia

Section B) This Act shall be amendable by the consent of the Synklētos and enacted by the Basileus

Section C) This Act comes into force upon receipt of Vasilikí Singatáthesi

Section D) This Act may be cited as the Courts Act 1642
