[Hockey] League Structure revamp.

Post by sick39ed »

From the 2020-21 season onwards the senior hockey league structure in the Florian Republic will be revamped. From the start of the 2020-21 season, teams in the Intercontinental Hockey League will now be split by a Western/Eastern Conference instead of the current North/South conferences currently in use in order to create a more balanced geographical distribution. They will also be a cut of nine international teams to seven as Freelander teams leave the league.

From 2020-21 onwards, the Florian Challenge Hockey League will be renamed as the Apollonia and Eura Hockey League (AEHL) and be expanded to 32 teams and all Intercontinental Hockey League teams apart from HC Real Livingston will be required to be affiliated with a franchise in the league, by either creating an affiliation with an existing FCHL franchise or creating a new one. like the ICHL the league will be split into a western and eastern Conference. HC Real Livingston will be exempt from creating an AEHL franchise due to the presence of the Southern Mercury Hockey League in their area. In order to have the league to 32 teams, the Liancourt Rockers, the team which unsuccessfully bidded for an ICHL spot will be added as the 32nd team.
