Northcliff United have finally lost a domestic game this season and it was city rivals, Northcliff City out of all teams to end United's 21 winning streaks so far this season. In a tense League Cup Quarter-Final, the City Stadium was packed to the rafters for the highly anticipated tie which did not disappoint. A much-changed Northcliff United side who made six changes included Robert Sanchez and other rotation players such as Tom Armstrong started the strongest and Sanchez was taken down in the penalty box in the 4th minute which was converted by star man, Cristiano Ramirez. It got worse for City as Robert Sanchez scored a brilliant free kick from outside the box in the 21st minute. It was that moment that the whole Northcliff United team switched off and on the 33rd minute Jack Phillips scored after a brilliant counterattack before he converted from the spot a few moments later as Northcliff United captain Danijel Despotović made a clumsy challenge on Theo Webb. In the early moments of the second half, both teams cancelled each other until the 85th minute as Jack Phillips drilled the ball in from the right beyond the far post, the ball came to Tommy Hill whose shot hit the face of the near post with the ball coming back to Theo Webb, who scored with a low right-foot shot from 12 yards out. The goal sent City fans into raptures and after three heavy defeats in the past. Northcliff City had finally beat Northcliff United and head to the semi-finals of the competition. The team will now finish Oldhaven Rangers in a two-legged semi-final, who had to go through penalties against City's U23 side to progress.
