Very occasional Caverdenian inspirations

Post by ari »

"Inspirations" = things that other, actually creative and hard-working, people have done, that remind me of some aspect that would exist in Caverden if I actually put any effort into developing it. In particular, these are not supposed to be depictions of "yeah, this is what the place looks like", just cool things that happen to go along similar lines.

Let's start with this one:

Lord Furniture
Not even partially responsible for Malarboria; will take the blame for Caverden, though!
Tallest and therefore Greatest of the Janitors

What I see in it: Maybe a mother and child? More mother than monster, anyway. I don't know what happens when the machine nature enters you, but this seems like one possibility: Retaining perhaps all of your faculties, or perhaps only some memory of who you were and who you loved. Maybe different things happen to different people. One thing I do know for sure is that it's not a way toward an understanding of the Machine God.

Mekaanisten lintujen puisto, by CMX. Translates to something like "park of mechanical birds". What I hear in it: Why, the beautiful birdsong of the meshed lands, of course! (in the last three minutes)

Visions of the dream of the Machine God: A sky full of purpose instead of unthinking processes, order brought into the world instead of arising from it, telos instead of mere eidos.

Would something like SHODAN arise in Caverden (1) in the near future (2) at all, assuming business as presently usual proceeds indefinitely up to the point of apotheosis, as it were?

Not as such.

These massive SOMA spoilers below (that you should avoid if you think you're ever going to play this excellent game) are *also* not what is going on. But I find them interesting.
