Opening Ceremony of the Diet

Post by Jonas »

*The crowd around the National Diet goes wild when the Gate of Outer Peace opens and a large parade of soldiers of King Gaelen I's Apollonian Guard - the personal bodyguards of the Emperot - leave Daocheng Palace. Between them, in a golden carriage, sits the Heavenly Light. His face is hidden behind golden-coloured robes, but the people who have awaited this moment for days nonetheless go wild of excitement.*

More than ever, the Jingdaoese society was divided: an overseas descendant of the Erasmus Dynasty claimed the Throne as his and had split off and established his own empire overseas. These rebels claimed that the Xianfa Emperor was an imposter: that He wasn't a direct direct descendant of the Mengjiang Emperor, or at least not direct enough to be the main claimant of it. Some Jingdaoese had decided to believe this propaganda, which had weakened the nation's unity even further.

The Xianfa Emperor hadn't made himself very popular: His constitution had granted the people a voice in politics, but also had - according to some - desecrated the Heavenly Monarchy. And then there were also the usual rumours of the Army's - and in lesser form the Navy - attempts to benefit from the free elections. Wasn't Chiang Shun elected as Diwang, unable to be fired by even the most powerful and divine man in the nation? Nonetheless, today there were more than enough people who threw themselves in the dust and dirt while praying for - and to - the Emperor.

His arrival at the National Diet, where both the 15 Governors of the Seanad and the 54 newly elected Members of the Yuan were seated, was met with enthusiasm of the representatives of the people. Deep bows of utmost respect were made when the Heavenly Light entered the room.
