Procl. B-001: Against Calbain's Ban of Boxer Markus Doltrue

Post by Wil »

The Office of the Lord Mayor of New Vaduz

We hereby issue a proclamation opposing and showing our displeasure at the recent ban by the nation of Calbain of boxer and social justice advocate Markus Doltrue. (See http://bastionunion.org/forum/viewtopic ... 83#p153183 for reference.)

We also oppose the swiftness with which Bastion Admin Rasmus assisted Calbain leader Jeremy Archer in banning Mr Doltrue.

We have been informed that Mr Doltrue was perfectly ready to leave of his own accord, yet a ban was enacted anyway without any chance for him to protest.

Signed,

Wil

Prefect Wil:

Markus Doltrue has read that you have issued a Proclamation against Calbain's ban. He has told me that he applauds this courageous move, despite your tendency to be a tightwad towards the needs of the working and disempowered classes, when it comes to your government's spending. In any case, he thanks you, and we wish the New Vaduzians well!

One should know what the country is called that he wishes to be politically active in.

Concerning the comment by Jeremy Archer on Markus' Spelling of the name of Calbion (Calbain)

Markus Doltrue told me that he read Mr Archer's comment, and that he thought it was utterly asinine. He stated that he would not further comment except to state that the name of Calbion is clearly spelled "Calbain" in its native tongue as depicted in the giant banner logo on the Calbion main page, therefore making he in fact the linguistic expert in this case. Just because Markus Doltrue is a boxing champ does not mean he is not also intelligent and well-read. In fact, he wishes to become as scholarly as the late Thadeus Laing.

My understanding is that the word "Calbain" is used to describe the people of Calbion; in the way that Craitland is home to the "Craits". The phrase "Gwlad y Calbain" (whether or not that should be mutated to Galbain is a different discussion for another day) translates to "country of the Calbain", rather than "country of Calbion".

Presumably, using "Calbain" in the way you have there, Markus, is tantamount to referring to France by the name "française", with its official name translating to "French Republic". Of course, little ambiguity is offered in either situation, but for the sake of official paperwork, the fewer glaring errors the better
