Republican Forces Land in Westminster

Mountbatten's armed forces made one of the largest recorded military landings in Micran history this week, as a combined strength of 150,000 soldiers and personnel arrived on the shores of Brettania. Having traveled under the cover of night, amphibious vehicles landed the soldiers on the shores just west of Westminster, catching the already anarchic forces completely off-guard. Once ashore troops fought heavily as Avalonian troops poured out of the city. Yet lacking sufficient manpower and clear direction, they were quickly overwhelmed by Republican forces. Although heavy casualties were inflicted upon Mountbatten's forces, the Avalonians were completely routed, and our men marched victoriously into the city.

The liberation of Westminster marks a major victory for Republican forces. With the Avalonians in complete chaos the capture of the capitol gives the Republic an important foothold on the island. From the city Republican forces can begin fanning out across Brettania in order to secure the island and restore order. Commander of the Republican Forces, Ira Altain, has been in meetings with Benjamin Rivers, descendant of Arthur and Thomas Rivers, Lord of Greater Willow, and leader of the resistance against the Avalonian hegemony. The two leaders have worked out an agreement wherein Greater Willow's forces will join with the Republican army to lead a joint liberation of Brettania. The core territory of Greater Willow, Willowshire, is already in the hands of the resistance, and forces there have established a strong base of operations from Sherrinford. Rivers' has stated that the north has generally always been favorable to the resistance and the old Brettish government, and that it will not take much convincing to bring them over to the right side.

Avalonian forces tend to be clustered in the south, and maintain strongholds on Cornwallis and Doyle. Strategists expect these areas to experience the most intense fighting, and anticipate a long battle ahead for these areas unless commanders capitulate. Given the lack of central authority over the various Avalonian armies, and their poorly coordinated efforts at defense, it seems unlikely that a complete capitulation will occur, and instead Republican forces will face long drawn-out fights with local warlords. Nonetheless, Mountbatten is committed to the liberation of Brettania, and will see it through to the very end.

Hail Brettania!

Lord Protector of the Brettish Commonwealth
