Sophia is dead! Long live Flavius!

Post by Flavius Myksos »

Flavius Myksos, the oldest son of Dutchess Sophia of Kildare and Prince Choygal of Aryasht, was no longer the boy he used to be. Years had passed since he had visited and learned from the nobility at Kaiser Mo'll His court in the West.
The days that he had been a prisoner in his own city seemed even further away. It not only seemed long ago, but it was long ago! What a blessing it was to have the blood of Myxoseans in his veins, as he and his kind lived longer than most of the Kildari. It was - according to his mother, Sophia - no coincidence that Sakat had blessed the Eastern Empire with the Myksos Dynasty: who else than those who lives long would deserve to rule a realm that adores history?
There was no doubt in Flavius' mind that the Kildari had, after several generations, had fully accepted the reigning dynasty. Even the Seanad, consisting of Counts and lesser nobles, had lost their power and were merely around for the sake of tradition. It had been Flavius who, as ruler of the City while his mother lived in Tymaria City with her husband, had reconstructed the Seanad building into an entrance building of the Marmore Palace

For those who lived in Apollo City, it had been clear who really ruled the Eastern Empire for the past few years: Flavius had ruled with an iron hand, had rebuilt several parts of the ancient city and had announced even many more projects for when he would finally become 'Dominator' (Ruler) of Kildare.
Today, that day had come: Sophia Myksos, Dutchess of the Dutchy of Kildare, Ruler of the Eastern Empire by the Grace of Cato and the Kaiser, had died. The funeral ceremony had been short, but the parade of the golden coffin through the streets of Apollo City had taken many hours. Now, the procession had finally reached the - relatively simple - family tomb outside the Christophian Wall. A priest said a last blessing, after which the tomb was closed.

"Mother, you left me a grand Empire and an even greater City. I too will leave this place behind even more splendid than I found it," mumbled Flavius to himself while he touched a last time the stone entrance. Then, with the energy of a teenager, he turned around and left for a meeting in the Seanad.

Long live the Dutch!
It's time for new blood. And blood will flow if the Seanad doesn't confirm the new ruler! :madviking:
