Report: Census Data Shows Striking Changes

CENSUS DATA SHOWS STRIKING CHANGES

Mishalan City (Mishalan) – Census data gathered by regional planning commissions, municipal organizers, and demographic statisticians have been compiled, showing striking changes throughout Amokolia. The statistics that stand out most in this recent collection of data is the emergence of conservatism in Amokolia Proper and Leng, and a strong shift towards communism in the mainland provinces of Oleslaad, Vattnaland, and Mishalan. The other striking statistic is the recent uptick in Pan-Mishalanism and the number of people registering as Mishalanski on census surveys.

In the arena of politics, the Amokolian Defense League has stepped back from ts pro-separatist agenda and has stepped up to the podium, forming a strong political paty in Anun achieving victory in local municipal elections. The popularity of the ADL has diminished greatly on the mainland and in Leng, but has grown considerably stronger in Amokolia Proper. Although their agenda has liberalized somewhat in promoting equality between ethnic Elw and Amokolians, they remain hawkish over recent tensions brought about by the Trans-Elwynn dispute. The dispute itself has galvanized many Amokolians on Automatica, who feel that the island heartland of the country may be up for grabs next if the government doesn’t step up.

Leng has been politically quiet and has seen a recent surge in religious activities and a pursuit of isolationism by local officials. Journalist Albert H. Ezra, who has been conducting documentary work in Leng commented, saying, “The recent socio-political landscape in Leng appears to be a shift towards returning to old ways. This appears to be related to Lengish ancestry as an offshoot of Hyperborean culture.” He went on to add, “Although distantly related to Hyperborean, it should be recognized that Lengish practices are much darker with a strong religious hierarchy. It has always been an island rife with superstition.”

On the other hand, Mishalan has seen by far the largest political upheaval. Reports attribute the changes to the Trans-Elwynn dispute, growing tensions between Elw and Amokolian, and a diminishing of status in Oleslaad and Vattnaland. Municipal elections throughout all three mainland provinces have shifted politics to the far left. Small communist and socialist parties achieved dominance, but as of yet have not formed a single party. Yet overarching politics has been the formation of a Pan-Mishalanism movement that has spread across the mainland and continues to gain momentum.

Demographics experts and social workers agree that the rapid rise in Pan-Mishalanism is in part a response to the growing distinction between Amokolia Proper and the Benacian mainland. Several decades ago, people on the mainland and on Automatica considered themselves Amokolian. In recent years however there has emerged a sharp distinction between the two. Along similar lines, the roles of Vattnaland and Oleslaad have diminished in favor of the more populous and prosperous Mishalan. Much of eastern Vattnaland is now populated by Elw itching to join Iserdia or Araxion; those remaining in the west have lost all sense of nationalism and are now throwing their lot in with Mishalan, seen as their last hope for salvation from an ever-expanding tide of Elw. Oleslaad, isolated in the northwest corner, has remained almost exclusively Amokolian, but likewise sees Mishalan as the key to success. The migration of successful Mishalanski families into the other two provinces has helped to further the entire process.

The question on everyone’s minds now is whether Oleslaad and Vattnaland remain viable entities, or whether they’ll opt to throw their lot in with Mishalan and embrace the concept of a “Greater Mishalan”. Another nagging question is whether Amokolia Proper and the central government will see fit to get involved with mainland politics, or if they will continue an isolationist policy and not interfere. The matter of Trans-Elwynn seems to be an aggravating factor helping to fuel these changes. But since it is unlikely those favoring the creation of an Elw province will fail, it certainly seems likely that events elsewhere will continue on these newly forged paths.

Interesting! :D

Will Mishalan become something like Nepal in socialist politics?

The Constituent Assembly of Nepal, for example, has among other parties these represented:

Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist)
Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist)
Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist)
Communist Party of Nepal (Marxist-Leninist)
Communist Party of Nepal Marxist-Leninist (Samajbadi)
Communist Party of Nepal (United)
Communist Party of Nepal (Unified)
Nepal Workers Peasants Party
