SOTM Dissolved, Mountbatten Republic Declared

Post by Ira Altain »

*BREAKING NEWS*

Ira James Altain, known among his fellow soldiers as Jim, was named Governor of the Mountbatten Republic today after Captain Von Richter, acting Commander of the Sons of the Mountain, was killed in battle over the mountains of northwest Benacia. Altain said that Von Richter and his battleship, the Grim Fortune, were destroyed in an attack against rogue mercenaries in the region of Pentopolis. With the loss of the Commander, acting officials for the Sons of the Mountain convened in the city of Macoeur and proclaimed the founding of the Mountbatten Republic. Altain was elected from among the senior officers of the organization, and immediately set about reorganizing the mercenary army into a political state. In what Altain stated as a "senseless loss of life and resources", he proclaimed an end to random attacks against other nations, and ordered all Son's units to convene in Benacia for the establishment and protection of the Republic.

The Jingdaoese Empire congratulates the Mountbatten Republic on attaining nationhood. We hope that we can put our animosities to rest and cooperate in the future. The existence of a Mountbatten Republic on Benacia gives hope that that continent is not yet lost to the rotten mango in its fruit basket. If the Republic needs any assistence from Jingdao, it should not hesitate to contact us.

Mountbatten thanks Jingdao for its support and under new leadership we hope that we can achieve a closer relationship with the Eastern Empire. Indeed much of our population consists of former Batavians, and we welcome the resettlement of refugees (e.g. Apollanteans) from the east within our borders.
