Any old iron

The Imperial State of Constancia: Benevolent hereditary dictatorship, constitutional monarchy, laissez-faire technocracy, aristocratic corporate state, organized crime family syndicate or liberal autocracy? It depends on the day.

To the General Service Corps (Trans-Euran Command)
18.I.1670

Sirs,

The Board of Directors of the Octavian Import-Export Corporation extends its compliments, salutations and well-wishes upon your ongoing efforts to restore civilisational coherence to the continent of Eura.

It has come to the attention of the Corporation that your estimable organisation has recently come into the possession of commercially-viable quantities of scrap metal from the Euran interior. Originating from a climate blissfully free from the corroding influences of salt and moisture, such metals are of naturally greater value than the market baseline and in the event of being made available for sale would command a correspondingly generous price.

The Corporation wishes to advise your organisation that the customer on whose behalf we operate maintains a historically high demand for refined metals of all grades, and that should the accumulated stockpile in your possession require disposal on global markets, the Corporation is uniquely well-disposed to offer timely and appropriate recompense for any shipment of scrap metal from the ports of Constancia to our newly-opened hub at Puerto Arcadio, Los Liberados.

At Your Service and Discretion,

T. Wulframberg
Director of Operations (Apollonia & Southern Hemisphere)

20.I.1670 - Aqaba

To Agha O.I.E.C. Director of Operations Sahib,

We are immensely gratified to be in receipt of your letter dated 18.I.1670 which awaited us at Aqaba upon our return from the interior.

Our commission agent, Kalkul Sahib, has thus far itemised and supervised the collection of 78,000 metric tonnes of used rails. These shall be deliverable from inland collection points to Aqaba port, for containerisation or ship loads, at a rate of 2,000 metric tonnes per Norton month.

Our commission agent undertakes that all scrap metal delivered will be totally free of any types of radiation (disclaimers apply), bombs, arms and ammunition, mines, shells, cartridges, sealed containers, gas cylinders, explosive shells and/or explosive materials in any form, used or otherwise, as per the industry standards.

Locomotives, carriages, electrical wiring, signalling equipment, gears, and other salvaged paraphernalia, are presently being collected at Junction 46a of the 1st Eastern Route and Junction 9 of the Western Route by our commission agent, Grobba Sahib, and shall be available for inspection and evaluation testing by interested parties.

We estimate that, with all forms of spent ordinance and legacy materials left over from the various conflicts and evacuations taken into consideration, excluding contaminated and degraded metals leftover from the "Atmospheric Event of 1598", there may be up to 240,000 metric tonnes of recoverable ferrous and nonferrous metals available in the provinces of Nivardom and Aqaba. Considering the general condition of the Euran continent it is most likely that further significant amounts can be recovered by expeditions into the interior mounted from Nivardom and Aqaba, albeit with higher recovery costs when security and logistical factors are taken into consideration.

In terms of products sought in return, our requirements are for bullion, international currency, letters of credit, and other suitably discrete financial instruments. We may also request the assistance of Nezeni bio-apothecaries to assist with longevity and radiation therapies for a select clientele for whom the Euran environment has proven something of a shock.

With cordial regard,

Sepahbod Malik Arrānāni,
Officer Commanding - General Service Corps
