St. Harald's Palace

A loose confederation of mainland harbours in the Benacian Arctic, onto which the Raikothin retreat in the winter months when the northern ice-shelves become too inimical to the survival of even their hardy race.

St. Harald's Palace, the seat of the Lady of Amokolia.

St. Harald's Palace, also known as the Palace of Saint Harald, is the official residence of the Lady of Amokolia, Her Imperial and Royal Highness the Storjarla Fjǫrleif Hallbjörnsdóttir of the Houses of Ayreon-Kalirion and of the Descendants of Freyja, Countess of Northshire, Countess of Arietta. It is situated in the outskirts of the Princely City of Fjǫrleifsbýur, one of the Seven Harbours and the Capital of the Ladyship of Amokolia.

The palace received its present name from the Storjarla Fjǫrleif who named it after her Lord Grandfather, His Imperial and Royal Majesty Harald Freyjugjöf the Generous Giver of the House of the Descendants of Freyja, the High King of Stormark, who was many moons ago canonized by the Most Holy Nidarosian Church. Its original name was Ronjarborg.

Situated in the area of the Ladyship of Amokolia which is known as the Gascon Marches, the borderlands between the Duchy of Gascony and Absentian Amokolia, has had tumultuous history which spans thousands of years. The Gascon Marches were since times ancient beyond the memory of woman until quite recently a common battleground between Absentian petty rulers, Gascon Lords, and bands of robbers and pirates.

The original name of St. Harald's Palace was Ronjarborg. It was a formidable castle which belonged to the House of Ronjar, a notorious House of robber knights who terrorized the area and beyond for millenia until Duke Harald II of Gascony - the Storjarla Fjǫrleif's grandfather in his capacity of vassal of the King of Bosworth - finally put an end to their long reign of terror.

After the Duke Harald II of Gascony had razed Ronjarborg to the ground, it remained a ruin for many mooncycles until the Storjarla Fjǫrleif selected the site of the ruined castle as her seat as Lady of Amokolia. She subsequently rebuilt the structure, restoring it to its former glory and even taking it higher than ever before.

And the names of two of the most prominent members of the House of Ronjar were Mattis and Borka, I presume? :wink:

Your Niftiness,

May I introduce you to Ronja Rövardotter, from whom the name of the House of Ronjar is derived. She is one of the two protagonists from a children's fantasy book by the noted Swedish author Astrid Lindgren.

Mattis is Ronja's father and the chieftain of a clan of robbers. Borka is the chieftain of a rival clan of robbers and the father of a boy called Birk who will become her best friend.

More info:

Ronia the Robber's Daughter (book);

Ronia, the Robber's Daughter (movie).
