Your Most Bovic Majesty,
Your Excellency,
Colleagues from the judiciary,
Ladies and gentlemen,
This is a great day of our national pride and honour - this unique occasion on which the three branches of government are gathered together to represent the greatness of this quite exceptional empire. Your Majesty, this nation will be forever in your debt, so will be I in particular. By appointing me as Advisor on judicial reform you bolt the importance for separation of powers. You proved once again your absolute determination to build up a free and democratic nation ruled by the rule of law and the rule of law only. May I thank You particularly for the outstanding support you’ve given me so far for building the independent judiciary. I would like to extend my thanks to the Frenzy as well for their hard work and support of the amendment of the Caprine Code which implemented the independent judiciary as part of the branches of government.
On a more personal level, I should like to thank again His Majesty and the Frenzy for proposing and confirming my nomination. Being the first ever Chief Justice of the Supreme Court is a great privilege indeed, but a great challenge as well. On my shoulders are laid the authority of this newly established institution and the hopes of all of us for fair and impartial judicial decisions. I now declare that I shall not be involved in any political organizations or institutions, nor would I take part in any political issues. Therefore, it is my duty as well as a personal sense of commitment to take the Oath of Allegiance in front of you all:
Bows in front of the Caprine CodeI, Ivo Angus, do solemnly swear that I will administer justice without respect to persons, and do equal right to the poor and to the rich, and that I will faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all the duties incumbent upon me as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court under the Caprine Code and laws of the Natopian Nation; and that I will support and defend the Caprine Code against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.
Thank you!
